Watering Peach Tree in the Summer, Please help!!
Comments (1)At this point you are likely out of luck. It could be that you drown the tree. That soil looks like it might have poor drainage. Next year get a bare root and plant earlier. If the soil drains poorly plant on a mound. Also in 115F heat, mulch and try to get away from that concrete wall. Where are you located and does your soil drain poorly?...See MorePeach trees and water stress??'s
Comments (10)Quack, I agree w/ Gator and Fruitnut, too much water on the roots. Water doesn't have to be standing on the ground to harm peach roots. My guess is if you would have dug down during the rains, you would have seen standing water in the holes which would mean the roots were sitting in water. If you build a good raised planting for your peach trees, it won't matter how much rain you get, you can dig a hole and there won't be standing water in the root zone. Your peach trees will laugh at torrential rains. If you dig down now (beside the trees) and still see water in the holes dipping the water out can be helpful as Gator suggested (I've also done it before.) Be aware the water may already be gone (having already done its damage). Something else which can be helpful is providing a bit of temporary shade for the affected peach trees. Since there has been significant root loss, providing shade will decrease the water demand on the remaining root mass and could improve chances of the top's survival. If the trees are small, an old umbrella on a stake will help. Just make sure the shade doesn't trap heat next to the tree, which would defeat the purpose. The tree does look pretty rough so any heroic attempts to salvage it may be moot anyway....See MoreSummer Peach Tree Watering, Please help!!!!

Now Its growing really nice, even though its 115 degrees.......See MorePeach Tree Just Planted. Questions and Comments on Peach Tree Growing
Comments (8)I have 3 peach trees. Contender which came grafted from a nursery, and two Indian Freestone peach trees. All 3 of my trees, I think are in their 4th year, this year. I had one peach last year -- just one on Contender. Here is a photo of one of the Indian Freestone trees from April 20. I grew the Indian Freestone trees from pits. By reputation they reproduce reliably, by seed. There is supposed to be enough genetic diversity that 2 such trees planted from seed near each other will cross-pollinate . . . Indian Free is one of the few peaches that requires a pollinator. The next one is Contender. The tree is more substantial as it was already grafted tree from a nursery planted in same year, but its flowers are not nearly as pretty. The fruit is good, though. I didn't see any honeybees this year. I see some fruit on the trees today less than the size of a pea, but some of the Indian Freestone buds are just dropping. I expect to get some fruit, just not nearly as many are setting as there were flowers. Less culling, but I'd rather cull fruit that are too plentiful than have sparse fruit....See More- 12 years ago
