Scott, Thanks. I just read your reply and went out in the rain with a flashlight to check this out. I took a leaf from each "trunk" coming out of the ground and compared to the Nat Aud. Soc. field guide.I definitely has two distinctly different leaves. Field guide says: leaves 3 1/2 to 6" long, 3/4 - 1" wide. The larger leaves are about 4" long and 2 1/4" wide. The smaller leaves are about 2" by 1 1/2" Some parts of the description fit. finely sawtoothed, sides curled up from mid-vein,leafstalks short with gland near tip, strong odor and bitter taste when crushed, but the leaves are not long and slender like those in the photo. So is one or more stalks the grafted peach tree and the others the host tree? What should I do with it?

There are many factors, so it's hard to say. Weather is also a factor in that if you get a warm spring and a cold snap, it could freeze buds causing them to fail. That happened to many of us in North America this year. Several factors affect fruiting: Weather Light Pollination Water Nutrients pH Pests/Disease Alternate year bearing (from fruiting too much in the previous year) Maturity (some fruit plants take many years to fully bear) Pruning Some of these factors you can control, some you can't. Best to optimize the factors you can control, and pay attention to those you can't (such as weather). Research each variety and determine what they need and give it to them. Learn to prune correctly. Learn IPM (integrated pest management. Fruit trees are more difficult then many other plants to grow and maintain correctly. You'll have to arm yourself with knowledge of each tree and conditions. Fruit tree maintenance changes from year to year as well as they have different requirements as they mature, and each year seems different as far as weather, pests, disease and pollinators. They are about as high maintenance as you can get, so it's always ongoing learning. Good luck.

I won't claim to be an expert but I do have some experience with avocado trees. I do know you need 2 avocado trees to pollinate the blooms to produce fruit. I started my trees from seed in the early spring of 2009, so they've been through 2 seasons of growth. They are about 3-4 feet high, have multiple branches, and this is the first year they are expected to bloom. I've noticed a few budding blooms on both trees already and I hope they produce fruit. They will not survive outside during the winter so make sure they have a sunny window to hang out by during the cold months. Avocado trees are a tropical tree so don't overwater, and you might have to provide shelter if there are too many days of rain. Good luck and I'll post in a few months if there are any fruit.

Alright! I looked at a Choko vine on line and YEP that sure looks like the leaf on the one I have. The leaves are just starting to get big enough to identify. I took a picture with the dirt pulled away from the seed so you all can see that it does look like a mango seed. ( Fruit had green and red skin, yellow flesh and tasted like one too???? ) OK new line of "googling" to do tomorrow. How to take care of this puppy!
