They do make a grout softner that you can get at Lowes in the grout supply area. I use it when it is time to recaulk the tub. Goo Gone is another product that softens and removes glues. Lowes has it too. Setting the vessel down into hot water while putting the softner inside the vase may help.

Yikes! I have been looking on the internet and it seems there is really nothing safe that will dissolve silicone. I'm assuming that is what it is. I guess I'd cut off the fake flowers and see what you can do to salvage what's inside. I think it would still look very pretty in a totem and the silicone inside shouldn't deter from its beauty.

I don't know, but maybe if you cut off the flowers and then pour boiling water on the silicone and see if it losens around the side's and then hopefully slide it out.LOL Joan

It is most likely two part casting polyester. Nothing really can soften it or desolve it.

Try these:

1. put the whole thing in the freezer overnight, then put the glass in hot water (not too hot). After a couple of minutes, try pulling the floweres out. Polyester may shrink more then glass when subject to cold, then you can pull it out.

Or:

2. If you really want to take a chance. Polyester gets degraded by high heat. Put the whole thing in you oven, gradually increase the temperature to high heat. Try pulling the flowers out while you increase the temperature. You will need gloves to do this. If you can pull the flowers out, immediately put the glass back in the oven to allow the whole thing cool down as slowly as possible, otherwise the glass can crack.

Nope, Thats clear Acrylic, and will not dissolve, melt, or change in anyway. I used to make silk flower arrangements with it.
Fun stuff, a liquid, pour into vase, add clear marbles, and silk flowers. When it dries, its permanant. Looks like water, holds very well.

Enjoy it for what it is, a cute flower arrangement..

Acrylic or Polyester, both are used for the same purpose. Both are two-part casting material, with curing agent or catalyst. Casting Acrylic does not "dry" It requires a catalyst.

It can be degraded by high heat.

Sandy, it is a beautiful piece of cobalt no matter what you do with it. If you decide to leave it as is, you could always slip the flowers off and replace them with other colors. Or even add some moss to the inside and then add more flowers. I hope the suggestions work for you because I know you probably have an awesome idea for it. And I love all of your cobalt in the picture and your "treat" jar!

Not necessarily. In making glass, it's heated to 2,500 degrees F. It depends on how thick the glass is, and how it is annealed in the manufacturing. Internal imperfections in the glass can also cause glass to crack.

If you don't make the water too hot, it will be OK. How many times have you take a cold glass of drink from the frig and boil it in the microwave with no problem?

Isn't that the same stuff they used to pour over tables and put on a thick coat, as in restaurant tables? I do not think you can get it out. If it cost more to solve the problem than buying new empty ones...I would think about it.

That stuff is Epoxy based, and is formulated to adhere and to be scratch resistant.

Casting acrylic is formulated to not to stick to molds.

The tapered shape of the vase may make it easier to pull the casting out.
