There is a real good nursery man in Puyallup called Hartmann's Nursery. He has a lot of good pears for Western Wa. I like Bosc pear for a fair keeper. Have heard that Moonglow is a great pollenator. Pears have a problem getting pollenated. Their flowers are not too attractive to bees. I also have Highland pear, and a 'Gurney pear'.

Have you already contacted your county's Extension Service for their advice/help? Have you contacted local independent nurseries for their advice? Regarding the Orient pear, because the 10 year old Orient tree here gets fireblight, and because the fruit are hard, and because the fruit don't taste so special, I clipped off the upper branches and grafted scions from a Tennosui pear on each. Since that should take care of those 3 problems, now I can focus on all the other problems that have already picked a number and are awaiting their turn..........

Well for apples and pears which are pretty foolproof to graft, a lot of people bench graft. Eg. graft directly to the rootstock prior to grafting. I have no experience nor have done any research for peaches, apricots, ect. I have heard that they are more difficult. I know for large volume grafting the nurseries usually bud graft because their scions then go a lot farther as a scion with 3-4 buds can be grafted to 4 rootstocks instead of just 1 as as a cleft graft. It is also faster for multi-grafting as you place all 3-4-5 buds on the same rootstock at the same time. I think they usually do 4-5-6 buds with expectation that 1-2 will fail but they still end up with a 3-4 variety tree.

As of right now, I have 5 different varieties on that tree. It's a 5 in 1, each variety being single except for the peach, of which there are 2 varieties on the tree. This is the third year in the ground and each graft has at least one fruit on it. The apricot and santa rosa plum have about 5 and 10 fruit respectively, after thinning. I also have a multi graft pluot 3 in 1, with 2 of those varieties being absolutely loaded with fruit even after thinning twice. I purchased a 4 in 1 apricot/aprium for my Mom and it formed up perfectly, with each graft growing about the same. Lots of fruit on it now. For my dad, I purchased a peach/nectarine 4 in 1. This one we had trouble with because I wasn't around to prune. We planted with the thinnest graft facing southwest, but the next thinnest faced the back and it is being shaded out by other grafts on each side. Those grafts have grown so aggressively that they have almost overtaken the 2 smaller grafts. I haven't been up to check in about a year so I don't know how it's doing over all.
