LOL, the purple heart of winter sowing! Hi all, my first year WSing and no battle scars yet. I used my Swiss Army knife to cut up the milk jugs - haven't tried thicker containers yet though. The awl on the Swiss Army knife works excellent for punching hoes in the bottom. An awl is normally used for punching small holes in leather or wood and is very sharp. It slid through the bottom of milk jugs like butter! Also used the small knife blade to cut the flaps which also cut very easily and safely. Seems simpler than heated knives and soldering tools? This pic shows the Awl that comes with the knife. I slid it in and gave a little twist to open the hole a little. It was very quick and easy, and quite easy to control.

Love the last photos of the 2 poppies :) Here the Johnny Jump up are getting tired already, but they started blooming a good 2.5 months ago... either last years fall sprouters and spring sprouters both puttering out for the time being. Fall usually brings more blooms :) My Chinese Houses started blooming about 1 week ago...Pretty, but plants are way small yet. Vera

Thanks.You understand- when the body betrays the spirit! I didn't think I would like that one looking on close-up, but as the finished panel, it has wonderful movement and energy. I guess I can start with a small thing... like a trivet? Want to do a table top. Want to do a mirror. Want to do just a wall piece. But, I can start with a small thing. I knew an artist who while working on a little cabin he bought decided to put the most extraordinary mosaic on the floor of the bathroom (see, we got back to the bathroom forum purpose). It was not his primary medium, however his creativity just came through in everything he did. I had always hoped that I would get to mosaics by the time I was ready to tile a bath, kitchen... but did not. Need to practice a bit, then perhaps when the basement bathroom plumbing needs to be redone (what did the prev homeowners do behind those walls??) I may be ready to get creative!

OA ... I'll check w/hubby on the saw blade info...he's sleeping now ...I'm the night owl. Yes, you can steal my hair-do, lady ... you save money on shampoo & when you get up in the morning, you don't need to style your hair! (altho I have cried many a tears ...but it's ok as long as the chemo does it's dirty work) ... in this pic tho, I now have no eyebrows, no eyelashes... no one told me how that would feel (& look) ...but it's part of the journey. 'Nuf said, uh. Now that trunk you're talking about I got on clearance @Hobby Lobby some yrs ago ... has to be at least 10 ... probably closer to 15 ... anyway, it's the 'girls' chest ...there's some dolls, fancy scarves, jewels galore & fancy belts in it ... I still have a young gr-gd who gets into it. ;-) Yes, I'll take another pic of it...it's stuck in that corner right now w/the tree & ice skating pond up. Now the boys they have the wood trunk under the nativity set...it's full of cars, trucks & the girls like it, too ~~ of course, they all used to get into both trunks! Now the Hoosier is the 'game cabinet' it's been one since our son was in Jr. Hi ... now that's a few yrs ago! Full of board games, fun battery games & all kinds of stuff! Santa always brings a kid game & an adult game on Christmas Eve to stay at the Sammons' household. ;-) Yes, the wood bear is probably `12 - 15" tall ... movable legs & forearms with jute ties.
