Cookie jar as fairy house what ya think??

I have been thinking of putting this out in the garden. It's a cookie jar I got at the curb several years ago...Is it too fancy for a fairy house?? I really like the natural stuff better for fairies.

I think faery things should be natural, but it's your call. Maybe doctor it up with twigs and moss?? It's a pretty cookie jar!

This is neat! I headed straight to the ts to check for things to make this with. I'll have to wait to come up with a clear lamp as they only had china ones. I suppose the china would work, but I'd like to make one in clear glass with cobalt pieces. This looks like something the squirrels wouldn't be able to destroy by chewing on it!!!

Georgesmom, you are so right. My hubby told how his mom always had it full of cookies when he was a kid. He is 69. My kids have so many memoirs of grandma's cookie, too. We have lots of my mom and my hubbies mom's dishes and our kids can tell you what their grandmas served in everyone of them. My hubbies mom had a covered candy dish that alway sat on the end table at the end of the couch filled with candy. Our youngest daughter has it the same way. Indeed, memories are forever.

The only cookie jar I have is large and is shaped like a house. I got it at an estate sale. I spied it but someone was quicker than me and said she wanted it and set it on the floor while she looked around. Someone accidentally kicked it and the bird on the jar top broke off. I waited for the first person to come back and she didn't want it with the bird off. I said I would take it and got it for $5. It was easy to glue the bird back on. I keep my measuring cups and spoons in it. I have had it for about 12 years and every time I look at it I am happy it came home with me.

This little gal lives in a corner of my china cabinet. She belonged to my mother, I have no idea how old she might be. Possibly my age or even older, I've not done any research on her, but she's been around for as far back as I can remember. And in some things, that's pretty far! She got a lot of use all through my childhood, I know! At some point, my mother attempted to repaint some of the areas where the color had worn off, so any value she may have had as an antique was ruined, but I love her just as she is! She's not held a cookie in the last 40 or more years, but she earned this 'retirement'. I also have a couple of clear pressed glass 'biscuit' jars, and I think I have a green Depression glass biscuit jar somewhere, but couldn't find it just now. I have way too much "stuff"! I don't use any of them for their intended purpose, they don't protect from humidity, and who wants soggy crackers or cookies! Or biscuits or whatever else would normally be stored in these containers. Rusty

I think it's lovely. Surrounded by ferns and moss and other fairyland plants it will make a boo'ful fairy garden.

I cannot believe the things people toss! It is cute!I don't thing every fairy is natural I have seen some pretty Blingy ones! Maybe you could have an area for your Rustic faeries and another spot with a crushed glass stream or mirror lake and glittery bushes ,maybe use some odd jewelry that your faeries have 'borrowed'.

Perfect! Remember, faries tend to use whatever they can find to live in once they have found the perfect garden spot! Some do build their own from Nature's materials, but others prefer more fancy digs! Sorta like humans - some like log cabins, others prefer marble, still others want brick or stucco!

I was thinking the same thing as goldenpond - the things people toss. Your good fortune there, Bright!
I think it would be a fine Fairy house, too. Like Nell said, surrounded by the right plants it's perfect.

Well that settles it ... outside it goes!!! I figure there must be a head fairy.. like a queen or something. She gets the fancy digs. Then I will try to make some natural ones too.

I think it would be a darling fairy house. I have several fairy houses that are not 'natural'. One is a "Squash house" and one is a "Pumpkin house" and some are china and some ceramic and some are wood and rock. I think fairies stay where it is comfortable. That one would fit just right in a fairy garden.
