bean cover crop question??

midsummersgarden

All my pinto beans are coming in. Yes, I grew pinto beans; because that way I could put in a cover crop without spending $11 on cover crop seeds only to wait weeks for the shipment.

So I have a big crop of beans and every week I go out and pick pods, give the pods to my 4 year old to shell, and use them for a dinner recipe.

But my question is this: if I pick all the pods, will it decrease the nitrogen available to the soil? Or is all/most of the nitrogen actually in the roots?

Thanks for responding!

Loving this september heat wave in the central valley!! I was hoping we'd get this, now I am out there picking tomatoes and beans almost every day.
