Thinking about next year: Late Blight and potatoes?

I am among the many who lost my tomato crop to Late Blight this year. I was very diligent in removing my tomato plants, double bagging, allowing the bags to set in the sun for two weeks, then throwing them away. From what I have researched, the virus canÂt overwinter in our area unless it has tissue to live on.

I want to try growing potatoes next year. How can I be sure the potato seeds I purchase next spring do not harbor the virus? I know to purchase Certified Seed Potatoes, but that still canÂt be a guarantee, right?
