Sounds like a really good excuse to not cook until you get a gas line! If it was me, I would hope it would take the plumber at least a week to come out! I know this was the last thing you needed to happen after everything, but at least it's kinda funny...right?

Actually...I don't know whether to laugh or cry! DH is coming home tomorrow, so I thawed a bunch of chicken to try out in my new oven for dinner. I was going to bake some goodies...experiment...too. I love to cook and bake! Guess we'll go out for pizza with some of the kids instead!

Oh Sandy, I'm so sorry. Just too much crap going on for you while hubby off having fun! I know you are glad for him but at the same time, sure seems unfair you can't catch a break.
Have to say tho, that I agree with Country. A stove that doesn't work would suit me fine! I hate cooking and only do it cause I have to feed my DH and Dad. But I like to tell folks the only reason I have a kitchen is that it came with the house!

That's funny Karen, I'll have to remember that one! I also hate to cook, and only agree to do it for my DH & DD's sake!

When we were under construction I lost my kitchen for long periods of time. My youngest (14 today!) loved it; the rest of us got so sick of take out. That said...can you grill up the chicken?

And, since you have to run the gas line anyway, is there a fireplace you want to convert. We may have gotten a new home (more on that under another thread...) and we will be converting the electric stove into gas. There is also a fireplace in the kitchen, so that would get the same treatment...as long as it is being done anyway!

I know how frustrating all of that can be. Just hang tight; it will all be fixed soon.

Oh, honey! Relax and BREATHE a little bit! I know you've had a heck of a weekend what with the cat a everything else but you've just got to adapt to what is going on isntead of wishing it were a different way, because it isn't!

I feel your pain, I've been there, but you got to go with the flow! Have him take you out to dinner or order in. Relax and give everyone else a chance to relax. There's plenty of time to talk about the weekend.

stop and smell the roses and all that? You gotta think of what you DO have, not what you don't.

Do you have a BBQ grill? A good time to try out those recipes! A fire pit? Weinies in a stick. A crock pot? Thousands of recipes on the net. Toaster oven? Salads, Soup on a hot plate and sandwiches. I have lived for long periods of time without a "conventional" way to cook. You wouldn't believe how I'm cooking dinner as we speak. It can almost be fun if you open your imagination and let it.

Country, I remember some years back....ok a lot of years back...a friend was finalizing on her new home. I was with her when they asked what kind of stove she wanted. And she said one of those new flat top kind that had just come out.
The guy was starting to praise the merits of them when she stopped him cold. Said she wanted a flat top cause it was easier to DUST. LOL. A cook she was not.

Trust me when I say...nothing stops me from cooking if I want to! I have 2 grills (charcoal & gas), 5 slow cookers of various sizes, an electric indoor grill, 2 different sized George Forman grills (that I'm not thrilled with), a big roaster, a rotisserie oven, and an Advantium oven. I'm dead serious about cooking! My aunt was the chef for President Grover Cleveland's son...I think it's in my blood! lol

And I probably have more recipes than Martha Stewart! lol

It just really ticks me off that I was too stupid to check to be sure the gas line ran to this part of the house! Until today, I didn't even know the difference between a gas pipe and a water pipe...except of course that one carried gas and the other carried water! lol Our plumber came over this afternoon to check out what needs to be done, but can't do it until Friday or Saturday. Oh well!

DH returned safely today from his brother's wedding in Florida. (As Martha would say, "That's a good thing!") We went out for pizza with a bunch of the kids tonight. Tomorrow night, rotisserie chicken! Yum!

Garden, I'm an expert at "going with the flow". When you have 6 kids and 11 grandkids, it's go with the flow...or have a nervous breakdown! lol

Just as long as I have my stove hooked up for Thanksgiving...I'll be happy!

Oh...Nancy...a fireplace in the kitchen? That would be my dream! We have a gas fireplace in the livingroom. They're great...no muss no fuss! We don't use it much because we spend most of our time in the familyroom, but it's nice to have a heat source when there's a power failure during the winter. That along with the lighting from my oil lamp collection...and we're good to go!

I can just hardly wait to get to use my new stove!

Oh, ok. Sandy, I thought you were upset because you didn't have a way to cook the chicken! Sounds like you got that covered, though, lol!

Sandy, I hope the stove is working as I write this (or at least soon after). You sure have been having a crappy week, haven't you? I always joke that my theme song is that one from Hee-Haw ... "if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all." lol! It sounds like I'm not the only one. Maybe the absence will make the heart grow fonder and you will enjoy the new stove even more when it is gassed and ready to go. Hopefully next week will be much better! I will keep my fingers crossed ...

The plumber came yesterday and ran the gas line to the stove...and informed me I also needed a 110 electrical outlet (for the clock/panel/ignitor), so my wonderful son in-law is going to install that today. Sears is coming to hook the stove up tomorrow. By the way, the plumber bumped into a shoplight in the basement. Glass everywhere!

Today we take everything out of the large Master bedroom closet so we can remove the wire shelving, and patch and paint in preparation for the new closet system installation on Wednesday. All of our clothes, etc. will be in the living, dining and guest rooms. Whoopie! Half of my closet has been there for weeks now. Lovin' the mess!!

I started baking a hash dish (in the Advantium oven) for our breakfast early this morning. DH ran to the store to get something that was a one-day-only sale. Meanwhile DD #4 came over and DD #3 called to give us a long rundown on the trouble in her DH's family. My DH came home from the store...with the wrong stuff and had to go back to the store...which is several miles from here. I kept turning the oven off and on to keep from burning "breakfast" up! It is now 12:45 PM. Guess what we're finally eating?!!!!

Something tells me I should go back to bed and hide under the covers until whatever this is passes!! LOL
