Oh my goodness, Oh my gracious, Sandy!

Hope I'm not breaking protocol, but I'm going to burst. I gasped when I opened my Secret Santa box. (No lectures...I never could leave a wrapped present wrapped for long. I've been looking for a 12 step to help me out with this...) It is so beautiful, so perfect, so Ocean Grove! We do "Christmas in July" on the boardwalk and the most beautiful Christmas pageant on the beach on a summer's eve in August. (This year under the most amazing full moon!) Just like Ocean Grove, your picture looks like it is out of the 50's. I'll have my son take a picture of it and post it this afternoon. It is just beautiful. Thank you soo sooo much.

For those who can visualize...Santa building a sand castle on the beach, with a couple of tiny elves and a picnic basket in the background...but that doesn't do it justice. I hope the picture will.

Nancy, you stinker! Ha! You're like a child in a toy shop when the parents say don't touch. Hee hee! I think it's a hoot that you opened your gift!!!! My late mom used to open all of her gifts when everyone was gone and then rewrap them! Ha! We caught her in the act one time! Can't wait to see what you got! The child should come out in all of us at Christmas. After all, Christmas began with the birth of a precious child... Merry Early Christmas, Nancy! Bear Hugs! Kirk

Oh, Nancy, I'm sitting here laughing at you! I think it's hysterical that you couldn't wait to open your gift!! Just like a little kid! Too funny! I knew it was delivered yesterday,

and wondered if you would wait until Christmas to open it. Now I know!!

I'm absolutely thrilled to pieces that you like it! I put a lot of thought into it...being a beach lover myself, I knew it had to be something for your little cottage at the beach.

I think because of the shipping method RC uses, it takes quite a while for packages to arrive... they are sent by French Post, which is like our regular mail. I wish they offered a faster shipping method, but as of now, they don't. The good thing is... their bulbs arrive in decent shape, even after the long trip. I think 15 days is unrealistic... it's more like 20-25 days! But have no fear... they will arrive! My order took almost a month to arrive, and that was the replacement order. And still, the bulbs were in good shape. Wow, Palmcoast! 25% is a lot of mislabeled bulbs! And if I'm not mistaken, you're not the only customer to receive mislabeled bulbs from MZ! I often wonder what happens from the time the crates of bulbs from the growers arrive at the distributors, to the time they actually pack them for individual orders and ship them out... how do all these bulbs end up in the wrong bags or with the wrong tags? I wonder if it's because they need to hire extra help during the busy season, and the new workers are inexperienced...

Yes, sometimes mistakes can make it better! :-) George, I want to first of all tell you how much I really appreciate you giving me all the advice! Thank you! You know, I actually realized that I might be overcrowding these paniculatas. However, I did it anyway, thinking that I might be able to severely prune these lovelies every year to keep their size down, and more importantly, I did it for a selfish reason - I know that this is not my forever house, and I probably will only be here for a few more years. I wanted to enjoy these paniculatas and so I just planted them there, realizing that they may not be fully grown before I leave... ouch! I hope that is not too selfish. You know what? The worst thing is that someone or myself will need to chop down the shrub(s). The physocarpus is Summer Wine, which is actually supposed to be only half the size of Diablo and Coppertina. So it is much more compact. The crabapple is supposed to be about 12' tall when fully grown. Yes, it may create some shade, but with crabapple, the foliage is not that dense so it should not be too much of a problem. The neighbors' shrub was always a mystery to me, until recently! They did not even know what it was - they just planted it there several years ago!!! Anyway, it's a lilac... yikes! It might get big. The thing that gets me is that the buds get eaten by the deer every year before they bloom! Sigh... I am going to advice my neighbors to prune it hard every year! LOL Anyway, if I do want to move the Limelight, since it was in a 5 gallon pot before and this is its 3rd season now, how deep and widespread should I expect the roots to be? I want to make sure that I will dig carefully just so that I won't damage the sprinkler system. The trouble is, if I did move it, I am not sure where to put it then... Hey, George, if you remember, I already removed the Pink Diamond from this bed to another corner after your advice last fall!!! :-) Thanks again!

Thanks Lisa!! First thing I did this morning when I got up was to go to the window to see if they were at the box and they were! They were there for about an hour and a half when I had to take dd to school. They weren't there when I got back but showed back up again around 9:30, now I haven't seen them since. They had both been going in the box, once I saw them both go in the box together too which I figured was a good sign. I am not freaking out yet that they went somewhere else, well yes I am but I am not admitting it. LOL! I recall last year when we got a pair of Blues in mid June that they took forever to get settled. Last year I saw them on a Monday and then the female was MIA for the next five days however the male stayed around singing his heart out. Then the female showed back up and two days later started building a nest. So I am hoping they have chosen this box and right now are just relaxing a bit until they are ready to get down to business again. DOnna

What fun. And sounds like the perfect gift for you! I am laughing at you opening it before DEC even. That is being "badder" than I've ever been, LOL.

Kirk, had to laugh about your Mom sneaking peeks and rewrapping her's. I admit I've done that a time or two in the past. But I haven't been caught yet. Shhhhh, don't tell on me.

I'm still resisting temptation to open my SS gifts, not sure how long I can hold out but will do my best to get past mid Dec. I'm just disappointed I haven't finished mine to mail out to my gal yet. Next week I hope!!
