A Belated Anniversary Gift I Made for my Wife

This has nothing to do with garden junk so am posting it on this side. :o)

You may remember that my wife Carol gave me a handcarved bear for our anniversary in October. I just gave her this belated gift. It was late because the detailed cutting was hard on the old eyes! LOL

I found this cool pattern and transferred it to white paper. I glued the white paper to black, craft paper and cut the pattern out with an exacto knife. My eyes went buggy doing all of that detailed cutting. Once I had it cut out, I flipped it over (so you wouldn't see the white paper) and glued it down to a cool linen paper I found. I picked out a mat and frame and had it framed.

Carol liked it! :o) Just wanted to share a fun project I did for my wonderful wife! Kirk

Wow - I can't imagine all that cutting! That is awesome - what a cool gift!

It's interesting to see the other facets to members lives, beyond the garden junk angle. Keep up the creativity!

Well, it's 'paper' for that one. Don't know how 'unique' this would be, but how about a gift certificate to a really nice country inn or B & B? If it was in the budget, you could even toss in some tickets for an attraction and maybe a restaurant GC so they could enjoy a whole weekend. Usually very appreciated. If it would be meaningful to them, perhaps a family Bible? Membership to a museum or zoo? or a subscription to the local theater? Season tickets to their favorite team?

But the supposed kid in question is 10 according to the original post. Shouldn't there be a concept of a person by now? I still have to wonder if this is a joke because the kid is 10 in one post and only 1 or 2 in another? I think I'm entitled to the "Ugh Factor" on this post, because my own mother use to call me and wish me a "Happy Conception Day" each year. You think it's gross and creepy in this scenario, try hearing it from your own mother each year. I'm almost 50, so she ain't no millennial. She obviously has other issues, and boundaries problems are high on that list. This type of behavior is why we don't talk much anymore. Yeah, a little creepy if he is for real, and it's altogether possible from my own experience. In thinking about my own mother, maybe it's just a really narcissistic way to make one more thing in life all about themselves?

That is fantastic! I can only imagine how much time, patience, and concentration it took to make something so intricate. It looks like the kind of art work you pay top dollar for at an art festival.

Wow Kirk, it's beautiful! I think I'd need binoculars to see to cut something that intricate! Isn't there a name for that kind of cutting? It looks like scherenschnitte(sp), german paper cutting. I've got a book on that around here somewhere-I always wanted to try it, but know I don't have the patience for it. Anyway, it's really lovely, and I'm sure Carol loves it!

Wow! Kirk, that is beautiful work. It's amazing the things you can do. It's our 34th anniversary tomorrow but my DH is working in Brasil until December. He told me that he plans on getting me a gift for our anniversary and Christmas. A building to work on my crafts!! Yippeee!! Of course he says its for me but he also wants me to clear my junk out of our bedroom, living room, kitchen. Lol.
I bet Carol was thrilled with her gift, I would have been. Awesome job!

Lovely! I'm sure that Carol LOVED it! Any gift that is made for me is extra special.

My DH made a spool rack for me for Christmas. Took twice as long because he had the boys help! I'll always treasure it!

That is truly a work of art! The design is lovely in itself, but the effort you put into transferring, cutting it out, matting and framing it so elegantly...speak volumes of your love for Carol.

Seeing yours and Carol's relationship unfold before my very eyes on this forum is like reading a novel...a beautiful love story.
