Well, it's 'paper' for that one. Don't know how 'unique' this would be, but how about a gift certificate to a really nice country inn or B & B? If it was in the budget, you could even toss in some tickets for an attraction and maybe a restaurant GC so they could enjoy a whole weekend. Usually very appreciated.

If it would be meaningful to them, perhaps a family Bible?

Membership to a museum or zoo? or a subscription to the local theater? Season tickets to their favorite team?

The symbol for the first anniversary is paper. Can't think of anything right now, but bet you'll have lots of help soon. (My ex-mother-in-law gave me a roll of TP!)

Wallpaper for their foyer or a room in their house?
A certificate of promise to babysit x number of hours (for when they have kids of they don't already)?
A flower bouquet made of real dollar bills (singles, fives, twenties, etc)?
A year's subscription to a magazine, like a computer magazine or something they can both enjoy.

My son and daughter-in-law celebrated their first anniversary the 14th. They just bought a house, so we gave them a gift card to Lowe's. They got many nice wedding gifts last year, so really don't need any "things" but have some minor fix-its to do to the house.

I did a bunch of origami. I wrote down 365 different reasons I loved my wife, and put each one on a piece of origami paper, which I then folded into the shape of a heart. I then stuffed those into an origami box which I also made.
