Pistilo, Ebay sells tons of Fish Emulsion..checked it out yesterday and was delighted since Harvest Home.com, where I usually purchase, stopped selling the type I like..Prices vary depending on size..
Go to Ebay and type in Fish Emusion..One nursery called Sunshine something or other had different size containers at decent prices..even shipping was inexpensive.
Don't know what a Goose Foot is..do u have a pic? Am curious now..lol...Toni

Toni, Goosefoot is the same as Syngonium Podophyllum. They are beautiful, easy to grow plants. I have several and love all of them!

Susan yes I miss Franks. It was like one stop shopping for me. Different things that they carried I have to go to a couple of places now.

Growhappy, they are fun to grow, and I love mine too. Hey now watch that word easy, HAHAHAHAHA, I thought I was doing something really spectacular here. LOL. Hey for me it is!!! I really didn't know what to do with it when it got so out of hand. So I just stuck a pole in it, and tied it up, as I went on line to see what I could do.

I was reading they won't flower inside, but the temps here, I am aftraid I would kill it putting it out. So we will go without flowers.

I found a huge, extremely gorgeous one at the grocery store a couple of weeks ago and its a monster plant. I won't even leave it outside and its inside in front of its very own window (and it takes up the whole window) and I love it so much. Now this plant makes me want to get more varieties.

I too miss Frank's..does anyone think they'll reopen? Towards the end, they sold some rare plants..beautiful plants..and I always found something new in 4" section..The bad points were..1. most of their annuals and perrenials were jacked up 2. when they had 10" tropical plant sales, most of their plants were loaded w/mites..3. when items were on sale, they didn't ring up the sale price..I had a fight with one employee the last time we went to Franks..bought a plant stand that read, price, 79.00..it held 9 different sized pots, which wasn't included. The woman rung up at 179.00..I politely told her she rang it up wrong..Pointed to the 'huge' sign hanging above the display plant stand..she called the manager..he disagreed..I asked, why then would that price be posted? He said, it was for the display..I said, fine, I'll take the display..he was pissed off and said, give her a new one..Then, the woman rang up pots..they were 1.00 each, sale price. She rang them up regular price..Mind you, the price was tagged on the darn pot!! AGain we argued..she called the manager..the same guy..lol..he was soooo pissed at me. He rerang the pots, didn't even bother to bag them..That got me started..I reached for the bags and set pots inside myself..I can be a realy 'itch' when I want to..words were spoken..I do not like being taken advantage of..
Then again, most employees knew about plants and could answer questions.

When a store posts a price, its a consumer law, they have to honor the price. That idiot knew it too. You should have NEVER been treated like that. UNPROFESSIONAL Store Manger. Glad you got a new stand and a new one.

Some stores can't sell the display until the stock is depleted if its discontinued. Then if they re-stock they won't sell the display. The idiot also knew that.

I liked Franks, and I pass the store, and its still empty. I don't think they will come back. Places like HD, Lowes, and Walmart gave them a run for their money. Their Christmas items were quality, and I miss those things too.

Its a shame more and more of the MOM and POP stores with little unique items are on their way out also. We have lost so many of them around here.

I miss the tables of the 4 inch plants where I could usually find something a little different. But I knew a year before they actually closed that they were on their way out because they started getting all the regular plants in that you see everywhere, pothos, etc. I'm not knocking pothos but there's just so many pothos that I want or need.

Another thing about Frank's was that the people who worked in there were not very friendly and I've noticed that about a lot of plant places/departments and to me, I would think that would be where we would find the nicest workers. Oh well, I guess its just a job to them and not a passion like it is with us. :)

Pistilo, yeah it was quite a day..to be honest, most employees who worked there were decent, but these last two should have lost their jobs long ago.
But I too miss their 4" pots like Susan. I found some unusual plants in their selection. One was called a Castor Bean Scheff..I love it..never seen it anywhere else since..
Yep, guess it's just a job to them..but you'd think, most ppl who work in plant stores would like plants too, want to learn about them..
I agree, Pis, more mom and pop stores are going out of business. It's ashame. And I mean all types of mom and pop stores, not only for plants..like the old grocery stores..
I remember when I went to orientation before starting work at HD..we had a meeting, and the speaker said, w/an evil grin on her face, "we are putting Frank's out of business" like she was so darned pleased about this..deep inside, I was angry, but didn't utter a word..afterall, it was orientation, and I don't think complaining would have helped me get the job..LOL..but really, it upset me..she was so damned smug. What if she had worked at Frank's!! How would she like it..I do wish they'd reopen and hire decent ppl...Toni
