Squash completely devastated, now what

rjinga

I have (HAD) butternut, white scallop, acorn and yellow crookneck squash, all of which are officially destroyed by one or many pests (SVB, squash bugs, stink bugs are the main culprits)

As I now move around or pull up dead plants, SWARMS of bugs come pouring from them. I have squished a million of them.

I do not want to pull up these plants without first destroying the bugs, for fear of what I plant next having an instant army of blood suckers waiting for a new entree to be served to them.

whatever should I do. It's really pretty amazing how quickly they conquered and killed these plants. AND MULTIPLIED in the meantime.

another silly question...How on earth do people grow squash without the bugs doing total devastation? It's beyond frustrating and to be honest I"m not sure it's worth it. I'd sure just like to know how to win this battle.
