I just cut & pasted links into a browser .. they are all Dyckias , just like some of mine I have grown from seed sent to me , with names , Dyckia 'Bronze' Green and "Black" .. Who cares what they are called ? If I can get them to look half as good as Steph' in Bangkok I will be as pleased as punch .

Hi the one on the left looks like a Philodendron and if not then it is a Monstera deliciosa, do a Google on them and you may be able to see which one it is. I have a few growing and they grow huge just how big is that reptile enclosure it sure looks good. The one on the right is a Fan Palm once again it grows a big fan also. How long has those plants been in that enclosure do you know. I hope this has been a little help if not someone else will let you know if Iam wrong ...Cheers..MM.

Also could be that it's planted too deep. I can definitely see that from the first picture. That can cause the bark to start peeling. dig out the base of the trunk until you reach the root flare. Those are the large roots that flare out from the trunk. Any trunk material above that should not be underground. If you see fine roots coming out of the side of the trunk, they are aventitious roots which are abnormal roots growing out of the trunk because it's buried too deep. Keep digging down until the large roots at the base of the trunk are flaring out. Expose those in the area closest to the trunk. You might have to go down 6" or more. Lots of times trees are planted too deep by the nursery. I think once you expose the root flare and leave it exposed, the trunk should stop peeling, and the peeled areas will eventually heal over.

The crushed leaf didn't have a discernable smell, Nicole. I'm glad I didn't sniff too hard, because I'm so allergic to the nightshades. Can't be in the room if someone is peeling potatoes. I never heard of Shishito peppers, Bob, so I looked them up. The name would make sense, but the leaves look narrower. We'll let them keep growing--after I get them off my porch and onto my son's--and I'll report back when the flowers have produced some fruit. Thank you!
