I love that piece! I was raised by my paternal grandparents, after my mother died when I was three and a half. This so describes my Nana. She was amazing! She even made sure I didn't lose my house after my divorce by sending me the house payment every month for years. My brother and I were very blessed to be raised by Nana with her excellent values and strong belief in God.

We turned out good!! LOL

Carol is lucky to have such an appreciative husband.

Happy Mothers Day everyone!
I took care on my bedbound Mother in 1995 the last 9 months
of her life. She didn't know me (Alzhiemers), and all my life she had always
said "Don't take care of me at home, I dont want you burdened". She had seen
her Mother take care of her grandmother. But I couldn't help it--She
was my MOTHER! And I loved her.

We had a very nice dinner here with my sweet baby son (27 years old). He brought me lots of fruit and heirloom tomatos!!! We sat on the front porch and watched the Humming birds drink. Our neighbor gave us a huge pink climbing rose bush. I hope it will not mind being transplanted this time of year. After everyone was gone we skimmed Craigslist's Free section and went and picked up 42 12" X 12" concrete step stones. Now I will have to plan some new mosaic designs for the steps. It felt more like Christmas today.

Thanks Kirk for the touching posting. Hope all was well for Carol today.

It was a day where I also thought about my mom who has passed on. Blessings to all of you who understand this.

Thank you, Kirk ... a very "old" song...and very touching...a good day to remember my Mom and my special Grandma "Obbie"...both raised me & brought me to the place I am today...

I was blessed today to spend time with my kids and grandkids at a park for a picnic...halfway meeting place for those who live 3 hrs. away...good food, a little baseball, jungle gym & slides...and lots of blowing bubbles...and hugs!...oh, "it doesn't get much better than this!" Happy belated day to all of you GJers who "mother" the world! Jeanne S.

This was a hard day for me. I look at the beautiful card I got for my Mom for Mother's Day. I'm not sure quite what to do with it. I wrote letters today to people who knew her to let them know of her death. It was a painful experience but nice at the same time. I shared memories with them and talked about how she touched our lives.

My IOU to my mother is endless. She was my doctor, protector, spiritual adviser, secretary, housekeeper, teacher, historian, comedian and chef. She was the family veterinarian and encyclopedia. She was my mother and my best friend.

My grandsons were my Mother's Day blessing! They bring such joy to our home when they visit! (yes, they live 3 whole miles away now lol)

I sent this prayer around to a few of the GJers, but I don't have addy's for all of you, so I'm going to paste this prayer/story in here, because I thought it is perfect for Mother's Day:

Recently, I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged, and the mother said, 'I love you, and I pray you enough.'
The daughter replied, 'Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I pray you enough, too, Mom.'
They kissed, and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there, I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'
Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?' Well...I'm not as young as I once was, she lives so far away & has her own busy life. I have some challenges ahead, and reality is - her next trip back will be for my funeral,' she said..

When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I pray you enough.' May I ask what that means?' She began to smile.
'That's a prayer that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone.' She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and she smiled even more.
'When we said, 'I pray you enough,' we wanted the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.' Then, turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory..

I pray you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I pray you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I pray you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I pray you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I pray you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I pray you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I pray you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.

Then, she began to cry, and walked away.

They say, it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but an entire life to forget them.
TAKE TIME TO LIVE..... To all my friends and loved ones,
I PRAY YOU ENOUGH....... May God Bless You In Ways You Never Dreamed of Today!
