Brown spots on Purple Swedish Ivy
Comments (0)Hi all, I have Plectranthus Purpuratus (Purple Swedish Ivy) and I placed it indoor, near a big door that faces a balcony. The balcony is Australian south facing. It is still bright but no direct sunlight. The ivy was thriving, but in the last few weeks it has developed brown spots and now the leaves are not are hard anymore. They are very lumpy and turning yellow. I attached a few pics below. Not sure if it’s because of the (lack of) direct sunlight or overwatering or because it is getting cold (winter) in Australia. I heard it’s very easy to grow his plant indoors. So, any tips are appreciated! I really don’t want to kill this gorgeous purple beauty! :(...See MoreSwedish Ivy in bloom

Comments (3)your plant is stressed ... you bought it today ... and brought it home ... i suspect what you see at home is different than the store.. due to the type of light it is/was observed in ... frankly.. i dont see any yellow leaves in this pic.. ergo .... if there are any.. it must be minor .. but lets be clear ... nothing happens in one day ... so i suspect it was previously stressed... either at the grower.. or the shipping to seller.. etc ... if it were grown in a greenhouse ... simply being moved from that perfect environment.. to a store.. is enough to cause minor issues .... just give it time to settle down.. its stressed.. not hungry.. fert is not a response ... water properly.. and give it a month or two to settle down ... and adjust to the light in your home ... i would not repot a stressed plant.. until i was sure its no longer stressed ... why add stress on top of stress ... BTW ... all white leaves are usually terminal ... with no chlorophyll .. they are of no use to the plant.. so the plant doesnt hang on to them very long .... so dont get too attached to them.. and hope you will get repeated shows relating to such ... and they will sunburn or scorch very fast in light that is too intense ... i see the cat is already eyeing it up ... put it where the cat cant get at it ... and avoid the issue completely ... ken...See MoreShould I repot my Swedish ivy?
Comments (2)first.. i always let a new plant acclimate to my house for at least a month.. its stressed from the move ... let it de-stress ... second ... if it grew that way ... who am i to think i need to bury the roots it put.. where it wanted it .... being new.. you might be on the verge of loving it to death .... just learn how to water it properly .. and you should have 99% success rate ... start messing with it.. you will reduce said rate ... ken ps: the odd yellow leaves.. may have been if it was grown on a bench with a hundred others.. and it was pulled out for sending to the seller ... ignore such.. unless 75 of the leaves start yellowing .... its just nbd right now ... [i like the bench idea.. because of the way it is set in the pot .... like some plant next to it was growing on it ...]...See Moreluvofroses
