What to spray on peach tree? And other newbie questions

We moved last October and discovered this spring that the tree in the middle of the yard is a peach tree. That was a nice surprise, though I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I started thinning peaches out a couple weeks ago but didn't finish at that time, so I was continuing today and noticed that something has been eating some of them. There are holes in some of them, and there's clear stuff oozing from others. What can I do? I read some posts and saw a lot of different things mentioned. Would prefer organic if possible -- would pyrethrin help? I also saw suggestions of Triazicide Once and Done, and

Surround. (Note: I would probably have to order pyrethrin online so it would take longer before I could spray.) I picked off most of the damaged ones and will go and try to get the rest.

Once that's done, is there anything else I should do? Should I fertilize it? I haven't noticed signs of other damage on leaves or branches, but of course I don't really know what I'm looking for.
