Blackberry / currant for mostly shade area + rooting

I have a long narrow stretch of dirt between the fence and the house. I want to plant some kind of fruiting bushes there. My first two choices are blackberries and currants. The currants would get only about 1-2 hours of direct sun around noon (because they would be shorter than the fence) The blackberries would get afternoon sun once they grow taller than 6 ft (the height of the fence). I realize these are far form ideal conditions, but would I get some fruit at least? We're in an area with a long but mild growing season.

My second question is about rooting them. Has anyone tried rooting summer cuttings of either blackberries or currants? I already have two blackberries (Triple Crown and Black Pearl) and a White Imperial currant that I'm willing to experiment with in order to save $$$ on buying new plants. Do I need a rooting hormone / bottom heat?
