You can certainly grow some of each in your two beds. If you have raised beds with good soil, you could grow 4 tomatoes in a 4x6' bed, as long as you prune a little, and it's OK for the tomatoes to stick out past the bed a little. Lettuces don't do so well in the heat of summer anyway, and I've had great success growing them in my my tomato bed in spring, and thinning them out by harvesting, interplanting the tomatoes, which then grow to shad eth lettuce so that it stays cooler and doesn't bolt as quickly as the weather warms. Carrots do not take a lot of space - you can sow them about 2" apart. Moisten the soil, and put a lightweight board down for a week to keep the seeds moist so they will sprout better. Peas will also grow early in the year, and be done by the time your tomatoes get big. I plant mine along the edge of my raised bed so they take almost no space - they are all done around early June here in Zone 6. Squash - you don't mention what kind, but I'd give at least 4x4' for 2 summer squash, which are bush types. Winter squash are mostly vining types. You might be able to trellis some vining winter squash to minimize the amount of bed space they take, as long as they are smaller-fruited varieties like Acorn. Beans are like peas in that pole beans can grow along the edge of a bed in a small area. They will grow at the same time as your squash and tomatoes. If it were me, I'd plant a row of peas along the 6' edge of one bed, and seed that bed with lettuce. Harvest lettuce where you plan to put your tomatoes. In the other bed, plant carrots in between the edges and the middle. Then, when it's warmer, put your beans along the edge, and your bush-type squash in the middle. I'd probably put an eggplant and a couple peppers or a cucumber in this bed as well. That will fill the two beds up pretty well.

Yeah, I think it's too late unless you're sure they're not day-length sensitive. If they're the "100 onion sets" package sort they sell in stores, then it's too late to get bulbs out of them this year. You can plant them to harvest as scallions, or you can plant them in a few days or weeks or months when you finish harvesting something else and have some empty space in the garden. Then cover them with mulch when it frosts and leave them be over the winter. They'll come up next year and bulb out then (though they'll also try to go to seed, so you won't want to store them for more than a few weeks after picking... and make sure you cut off any seed heads as soon as you see them... unless you want seeds).

Yellow multipliers will do well enough spring planted. Plant shallow; so that the noses definitely stick out. Kelly's Green Mountain whites do very well spring planted. IIRC that is how he does it himself, and last summer that worked very well for me, too. The nests were small but the individual bulbs were larger in general for the green mountain than for the yellow multipliers. To the best of my knowledge relatives, for whom a strain of yellow multpliers was a family heirloom, always spring planted with never a bolt. Those I fall planted last year had a single half hearted bolt, which I pinched out. I have not had to take any special care of stored bulbs yet, beyond making sure to get a good cure, right after digging them and then stay dry. I find they can be stored at very close to room temperature in fact, for both the yellows and the Green Mountains. That would be mid to low 60s at that end of my kitchen- I don't keep it very warm over there toward the back door. BUT I don't do anything special beyond braiding them, and I think those braids would hold very nearly as well just hanging in the kitchen where one could reach from the counter to pick whatever was needed. In fact I have seen that done in kitchens somewhat warmer than mine with no sprouting. That would be the yellows, but this is the second winter that I have been treating my Green Mountains exactly like the yellows and I do not see any difference this year either. Mid summer planting for the following year's harvest is intriguing. You get the nest divisions this fall and next spring they hopefully will size up, or maybe you can dig them very early next spring and split them out to individual plants with more room to size up... Anybody else ever tried that. The one time I tried spring divisions, I lost a goodly portion of the resulting divisions, though not all of them. When I tried that under lights with garlic and multipliers, the garlics split out well enough but the multipliers didn't split up nearly as well and were difficult to separate. The resulting divsions did not do so good however, which I suspect had more to do with failure to control the lights properly as anything, daylength probably was more critical than I allowed for.

and I still have about a hundred wsd containers to plant.I still have about 6 roses to get in the ground too.I started 3 new beds this yr.One is strictly red,one is yellow/orange with white dahlias,one is my holding bed,where I am putting most of my wsd plants until I decide where to put them.My purple bed and pink bed has some yellows in them-that I have to transplant.I moved all my perennials out of my 2 rose beds because they were getting so crowded.It never ends.Besided the 3 new beds,I am putting in a bower.I also bought 10 adirondak chairs that have to be painted-2 each of pink,purple,yellow,green and blue.I am making rooms in my gardens,which has been sort of fun.I don't work at a job but this yr.has been so hard for me due to some health problems..but I am determined to finish,if there is such a thing..lol I too bought way too many clematis,have 2 on every arbor and I have run out of places to put the ones I bought.I may just let them wander thru the beds.I also put up a section of split rail fence to grow red climbing roses on behind my red bed.I have some already covered in a pinkish/white climber that has 11 bushes on it.Absolutely beautiful right now.Next yr.I hope I will not over load like I have done this yr.I do not see me getting finished any time soon....:-( and it is getting so hot outside.I work early morning and late afternoon but today I forgot to come in until almost 5..I am tired moonphase
