Cream of Saskatchewan - two different looking watermelons?

bella_trix

I'm growing Cream of Saskatchewan watermelon for the first time this year, but one melon looks different from the melons on the other plant. Is this normal? Or did I get a mixed up seed? I'm going to be bummed if it is a different type of watermelon, because I am only growing Cream of Saskatchewan and planned on saving seed.

The one on the right is the weird one:

Also, can anyone remind me of how I tell when they are ripe?

Thanks,

Bellatrix
