what is getting at my Jap. Beetle trap?

ok, so over the years I've rarely seen anything eat the Jap. Beatles. I know the experts say some birds will. I just have never seen it happen. This Last week my Trap that is about 50 ft from my veg. garden developed a 6 inch hole in the bottom complete with ? teeth marks. whoever the culprit was no beetles were left in the bag. But, now the beetles just fly through the trap. so I broke out the trusty Duct tape and fixed the problem and had a whole bag full of beetles until last night. once again. bag with new hole in bottom and no beetles to be found. I wouldn't mind whatever is doing this if it didn't destroy the trap. Do you all think raccoons ? I can't think of what else would climb to the trap. It is hung about 4 ft up on top of an very big old tomato cage.

so what do you think???
