pics of cherry trees with qs re pruning

I have a stella and ranier cherry tree. The trees have been the ground 3 years and appeared to be about 2 years old when I bought them in a pot. The trees set about 50-60 blossoms in the outer branches towards the bottom. See the links for the pics. But they never set any blossoms in the inner branches or higher up the branches. Should I prune the top 2-3 feet of the branches in the hope that when they regrow, they will set blossoms/fruit? If yes, can i do the pruning now so that the branches can regrow this summer in time to hopefully set blossoms/fruit next spring?

Here is a link that might be useful: pics of 2 cherry trees
