Sharing a few garden photos

I've lurked for years and finally joined this past week. :) Thought I'd introduce myself by posting some pics of my vegetable garden. All the first pics were taken July 1 and all those after the daylily were taken July 10. I'll have to get out this week to take new ones, but right now I'm up to my ears shelling peas and tying up toms!

The veggie area is about 55 by 65 feet. Six massive rhubarb plants, the red raspberries and two dozen Guelph Millenium asparagus plants (started from seed) have separate beds. I live in rural Saskatchewan - zone 2a - and this is my eighth season gardening. Nice to "meet" you all!

Gorgeous roses, Melody! Cool pinks are my favorite color in roses, closely followed by mauves and purples. St. Cecilia is gorgeous, I had no idea how pretty that rose is. Your Mr. Fairchild is equally beautiful. Mine is short and skinny and I wonder if it likes your climate better, although I'm inspired to try to make mine look a little more like yours. I think I got the turtle at www.simplysucculents.com. (Actually, what I did was e-mail my mom the link with a note: "This would be a great present for me." Heh heh.) I brought it inside for the winter and I replanted with some new sedums this spring. Click on the "Our Garden Art" button. The geranium is "Alan Bloom." It starts blooming in Mid-May and blooms into the fall with deadheading. The peonies and irises in the spring are amazing. Later on in the season, the phlox david, butterfly bush, St. Johns Wort shrubs, salvia, sedum autumn joy, and purple dome asters bloom. I just put in a pink double knockout, too. And the bed is anchored at the end with an annabelle hydrangea. I also put in a few dahlias this year for the first time. And I planted climbing sweet peas and climbing nasturtium at the base of the colored spiral stakes. Last year I grew gourds on the spiral stakes, so I am trying something new--we'll see how it goes.

Linda, the rock was a handme-down from a neighbor so I tried to use it. Longterm I'd like to replace it with a more gentle gravel like the rest of the paths. I wasn't aware that it may alter my soil, that is indeed good reason to remove it quickly. Take a seat here Lynne: Or here: Or here(if you're not afraid of Costco chairs!): I prefer to rest up here. The breeze tends to blow the hammock around more and it puts you much closer to the birds and chipmunks. It was a necessary place too for birdhouses and food that my mole-hunter can't reach. -Will

Nice plants! Liberty's always a winner. I'm really enjoying mine that I bought a couple of months ago. That epimedium is striking. I've never even heard of that. It shows to be good to go in my zone but it sure doesn't look like something that would do well anywhere close to this far south. We melt things in early June that look tougher than that! :)

Oh for crying out loud... there's the box right down there. *slaps forehead* Thanks (especially for the nifty HTML code stuff) and sorry for the dumb question!

I like the broc pic, too. Have to admit I cropped my fingers out, though. Was holding the bigger leaves out of the way.

Nice pictures of your beautiful garden. Lupine and nasturtium are favorites of mine. When I finally got my "flower addiction" under control, I learned the joy of vegetable gardening but still grow them together. Supposedly flowers near veggies will attract pollinators.
