Gloria: not to be a bummer but, your best defense going organic with CAR will be planting resistant trees from my experience. From what I've read, the sulfurs won't work very well against CAR, in addition they shouldn't be sprayed when the temps. get above 85-90F (I think) or they will burn the foliage. They can be washed off easily leading to freqent sprays which is O.K. if you have the time and the weather cooperates during the infection periods (wet weather). Between resistant trees and very diligent organic methods you might do fine, I don't know, but I heartily applaud your effort. Keep us informed. You will learn what does and doesn't work for you which is what it is all about. Oh yes, I have benefitted enormously from having a digital camera with macro capabilities. dohertyc9, I wouldn't worry about spraying anything this growing season, until you see a problem. At least that's pretty much how I manage my non-bearing trees. An exception might be borers. If you know the area has a problem with borers, that might justify a preventative treatment. Peach trees bear pretty early, but if yours only had 4 blooms it's likely most (or all) of those will fall off. Triazicide or carbaryl (Sevin) will help control Japanese beetle. Sevin is probably slightly more effective than Triazicide. Dormant sprays must be done in the dormant season. Oil can be sprayed in the growing season, but only at a lower rate. At this time, there is probably no point in spraying oil. The next dormant season, you'll probably want to spray your peach tree for peach leaf curl. Treehugger, Codling moth doesn't attack stone fruits.

There is a whole movement of people who will only purchase organic foods because they believe they cause a lot of illnesses such as cancer etc. Here is what it says on the packaging of the spray: CAUTION: Causes moderate eye irritation. Avoid contact with eyes or clothing. Wear long-sleeved shirt and long pants, socks and shoes. There are a few alternatives such as the Wild May Control System It is meant to be organic and some orchards have been having a lot of success. I would assume that it is a bit more work then the Bonide Fruit Tree Spray however if you can get it to do the same job as a pesticide then you definitely feel better especially since you were concerned enough to ask the question.
