HAVE: Tree peony seeds

My plants unexpectedly produced seed this year, which they have never done before. Flowers are pink.

Any advice on germinating/growing these seeds would be appreciated too. Since tree peonies are grafted, I'm assuming that these would produce a 'regular' peony?

Hey Rick, your peony is beautiful. I've tried growing one but didn't get it going. since then I have gathered this PROPAGATING TREE PEONY zones 4-6 height...6-8 ft. Spacing 4-6 ft Sun to partial shade . Tree Peony mix of Pinks/White/Burgundies The important thing is to get them planted as soon as possible.
Propagation Methods:
From seed; sow indoors before last frost
From seed; direct sow after last frost The seed necessarily need the winter chill for the seedlings to emerge in the spring after they have had some time in the ground during warm fall days.
The natural freezing and thawing process that nature provides seems to do a much better job than trying to artificially provide this indoors.
Believe me, I have tried it. Nothing is better than Mother Nature. It takes about a year to get a Tree Peony Seed to the size of a potted plant. Dr. Carsten Burkhardt, Kolkwitz, Germany http://www.hillkeep.ca/ts%20paeonia.htm

Tree peonies can be grown from seed, but you need to be patient. Expect to wait 7 years for your plant to flower. Like Camellias, the Tree Peony grown from seed will not be true to the hybrid and is likely to disappoint

Would love them, I have black peonie poppies, just fell in love with them, I am trying to get a peonie garden together for next year, love the look.
