still got website issues

Still getting an error message about a script when accessing the forum via Firefox (which is what I have always used in the past.) Sometimes it'll clear if I wait, sometimes it locks up. Works OK with IE.

I have the same problem. If I click on stop script the page does come on. Its a pain.

Same here. Was hoping it wasn't just me or my computer. I wonder if this site will ever improve and if not how long it can exist like this.

dick: No other program for photos is open. Thank you though for the suggestion. The photo icon when clicked immediately goes to my photo library on my computer where I choose which photo to load. Always has done this. The pop-up only happens on Houzz/GW so I would assume the protocol somehow changed. I know it has to do with the application/x-httpd-php in the pop-up message so hopefully an answer will be found before I upgrade to Windows 10.

Brad: Thank you for the info. I got PlantStep back up and working last week. AdwCleaner moved it to the C drive and labeled all the files with a .vir extension. I had to use a program that will delete the .vir from the PlantStep files in bulk, reinstall PlantStep and then overlay the cleaned files back into PlantStep to get all my data and pictures back into the software. I would caution anyone on using AdwCleaner. I have a program within Windows that does a check of Services running on startup which will give me a list of programs that I might want to not have run on startup. I even disabled the AdBlockerPlus, cleared out the cache, temp files and still the issue with Houzz continues. The message is definitely being generated from Houzz. I upload photos to other sites without issue. Just Houzz has something that changed. I already got notification from Windows that my version of Windows and Apps will not be a problem with the new update. I'm still waiting for the message that I can install which probably won't happen for a few days as they roll it out.

First pic (above) shows 4 of 5 burners on low with my adjusted micro burner in the forground.Above is high setting on originally unshown burner with micro on low in background. I originally thought I had taken a high setting with the other pics, but this pic is in morning light. All other pics are at night. Above pic is the low setting for the high set burner, again with micro in background. The micro burner has been adjusted by replacing the recommended .66 mm orifice with a .48mm orifice (a huge percent decrease). Its high setting has been severely compromised but that is a trivial sacrifice since its purpose is super low flame anyway. One picture point. The burners are highly reflective and one might initially think the burners have two sets of flames.

I have all the same iphone problems as listed. On my macbook, which I use most often for this site, if I try to copy text (like to quote someone) and paste it into a new reply, I get an error message. That is in firefox, but if I go to chrome it will work. In firefox, if i type a comment, I cannot get any paragraphs using the return key; if I try to edit or sometimes if I try to add photos, the whole comment will disappear. VERY frustrating. I cannot bold or underline text in firefox, so have to remember to switch to chrome (which I really dislike using). The wonkiness of predictive text on my iphone is the worst, because if you are used to using it, it's so automatic that I don't notice I'm using it. Then when I proofread my text before posting, it's all mumbo jumbo.

I found the same thing yesterday (3/18) and so this morning I tried right-clicking on a link to open in a new tab or new window (your choice). This seemed to eliminate the problem (which I think is a another gross animated ad based on what the pages look like in IE).

I've been experiencing pretty much the same thing for me as well while using firefox. No matter what option you try that ff presents to you in the pop-up box, it still winds up as a lost cause. So have swithced over to Explorer to check out this forum, where all seems to be going just fine. Will also try Steve's recomendation.

I am, too. I've emailed GW about this. I've had to install an add on with Firefox - YesScript 1.9 and then copy and paste in each of the URL's for each forum in to block the scripting. It has stopped the scripting error with FireFox. Hopefully GW will fix the scripting issues with Firefox, as I really do prefer this browser over IE.

Same here. This is very annoying. I've been on this site for close to 10 years now and it still hasn't changed.

This site needs to change. I'm jumping as soon as someone starts an alternative website or if there is one already?

Most folks on the tropical fruit forum moved to a new site. Same needs to happen here.

I thought about that, Frank, but there is so much history on this site. We'd lose all those great messages that have very valuable information in them. I'd love to see GW improve the site a bit. It's really a great, great site. I've been a member for about 7 years, and just love all the great options for gardening forums. There really isn't anything quite like GW! One glaring improvement is an Advanced Search feature. The search feature is SO basic. And very oddly, the messages do not come up in chronological order (like the newest to the oldest). I'm not sure what the sort order is, but you have now way to select a sort order (i.e., by relativity, date of posting, etc.) Fairly simple change I would think. My goodness, it's not like GW is some little company. It's part of iVillage, which is owned by NBC Universal!!

Mine started after the last Fire Fox update.

What new tropical fruit site? I would like to give that a try.

Same problem here using Firefox. Is it advertising related? I know Garden Web needs advertising to survive, but perhaps a little vetting of the ads they run might be in order to make sure they don't screw up the functionality of the site.
