I love the occasional bowl of gluten free oatmeal, dried apples, sultanas, and some maple sugar. Sometimes I add walnuts too. Uber yummy and substantial.

Iceberg or romaine lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, peas, broccoli, carrots, beans, sometimes turkey or chicken, and ocassionally cheese or walnuts are some of the things I add. Top it off with low-fat or no-fat dressing. Had a big salad with dinner tonight with lots of the above stuff in it and low-fat Sweet and Sour Poppyseed dressing. Yum....

i am not a breakfast person and never have been except on special occasions and that really leans towards brunch. Otherwise a cup of coffee before getting dressed and a big glass of ice water on my way to work. I usually have a bigger meal at out at lunch although I try to keep it heathy, and a lighter supper tonight just a chicken breast (sometimes a veggie/ fruit smoothie that always must include a banana). I do like eggs, so sometimes we will have breakfast for supper or I will have a couple of poached eggs and GF toast for supper (especially if DH has already eaten before I get home). I always have to have a bedtime snack (which is probably why I don't eat breakfast), usually a small yogurt, but sometimes gelato, a nutty energy bar' or a handful of trail mix. I've found for me a little something at bedtime (not too much or too heavy though) helps me sleep. Weight has never been much of an issue, but if it starts creeping a pound or two, I tend to try to go easy and cut back a bit until I'm back to optimum.

Dip and crackers, toast (sometimes with an egg or two), French toast, prosciutto wrapped around sliced mozzarella, or oatmeal. Yogurt. Or we'll go into town to one of the many restaurants (family/local, or national chain/fast food) and get something there. A local place makes a good Reuben and most around here make a good burger and fries. Mmm, now I'm getting hungry. On the healthier side, a good salad always sits well with me. At work, we make a wonderful chicken Caesar salad. Before the pandemic, we did have a nice, assorted salad bar. Doesn't help matters much that I get a 50 or 20% discount (50 while I'm there, a half hour before or a half hour after, otherwise, it's 20%). Sometimes, mum will pick up some chicken (fried, rotisserie or baked), from the grocery store and we'll have that for dinner. I miss our local KFC, the local grocery stores don't even compare. I agree, Annie, deciding on what to cook is sometimes more work than cooking it. I do a lot of food saving, so usually always have things in the freezer to pull out. Some of the things we have when I don't want to cook are just things that are easier to throw together. One that my DH likes was invented by one of our sons in high school. To a box of Annie's or Krafts Mac n Cheese add a can of drained albacore tuna-could even throw in some frozen peas if you like and a piece of fruit for dessert. And I never use the butter and milk in the mac n cheese , but sub plain Fave yogurt. I always have a can of Red salmon in the cupboard for a quick meal of salmon patties, a microwaved baked sweet or white potato and heat a frozen or canned vegetable. We always have fresh fruit around and I usually have a can of pears in the refrigerator for such times. I hard boil 7 eggs in my egg cooker weekly, so have those in the refrigerator to use for tuna salad or just as they are. I keep good hard cheeses and Johnsonville all beef summer sausage on hand and paired with a ripe pear or a good crisp apple and crackers works for me when I really don't want to cook. One of my favorites from childhood: a slice of buttered bread generously covered with slices of ripe avocado, then a grating of fresh black pepper and again generously cover with freshly shredded cheddar cheese. Yummy! Add a glass of milk and an apple for dessert. Seagrass, I hope you are getting some ideas that work for you!

And a big yes to a "botanical brew" to accompany breakfast but tea not coffee for me. I have quite a selection of herbal and green teas that I choose from each day. I've been drinking a lot of chai lately - red tea chai or decaf ones. I try to keep the caffeine only to the occasional cup of green or white tea. Speaking of occasional green tea, I think I'm going to have to go brew me up some jasmine tea. It is sounding really good....

hehe, i love good jasmine tea, it's my favorite Camelia spp tea....have a cup most afternoons, but mornings i want my coffee!

I normally eat fruit or a salad for my breakfast. A lot of times I skip breakfast, depending if in hungry or not, I just lesson to my body.

Man, how could all you drink such a strong stimulate in the morning, I feel all buzzy and drugged up if I drink just a cup in the morning.. I used to drink lemon juice religiously, like most people do coffee in the morning. I now, swear by it. Any congestion, mucus, inflammation in my head just goes away when I drink FRESH lemon juice with CLEAN water. It is a little sour in the morning, that is getting too much for me, i been just drinking water lately.

good for you nature's nature! a glass of room temperature lemon water upon arising is a wonderful healthy habit to get into. i have one too then about 1/2 hour later enjoy my cuppa. just a few ounces is all i need....

energetically, it's best to have warm food for breakfast. digestion can be thought of as a fire, and like a real fire when we put cool and wet things on top...over time the fire diminishes.

I'm not going to lie though, I been really bad lately! Just had a reuben sandwich.. the other day had like five big burgers at mcdonalds, i swear that stuff does not fill me up, maybe it has to do with it being deficient of minerals or whatever.. But, i ate five burgers, was starving, so I ate some cereal, as soon as I ate the cereal, I was instantly full and content. The cereal, like most, is enriched with vitamins and minerals. That's most likely what my body was craving. I normally use Himalayan pink salt religiously at home, on top of that, the wild herbs i forage for, and the fruit and vegetables i eat most likely has adequate nutrients. However, the mcdonalds probably didn't have the minerals my body was really craving.. It's interesting what you can learn by just observing yourself, no other person can be more in tune with your body than yourself. No doctor truly knows what you are feeling, you, we, have to start being our own doctor.
