I could send you a few from some trees. I only have one tree of each of several varities. I need to clean them up a little and I wont have many good scions of each since they are only a few years old.

I have red bartlette, anjou, seckle( plus I know of another I could get more form). I also have a Korean Giant Asian pear.

I dont know how much you need but I am will to give what I have. Let me know.

I have Moon Glow & Pineapple tree.
The Pineapple Pear is very old (75 yr. or so), so I am not sure that it is a Pineapple pear.
It is good & full of juice & bares a few pears every year.
A full tree most times.

Jolj- those sound interesting but I'm afraid I don't have much to offer in return. Last year I started off our orchard with a small number of apple trees. I'll be doing some pruning, but there's not much to cut. I also might have some apple scions leftover from the folks I've arranged with, but that's no guarantee and the timing might not work out.

Anyway, I'm happy to discuss more through private messages, assuming I figure that out :)

Someday I do hope to have good scions to exchange with (or just offer) folks but for now I have to depend on the kindness of strangers.

I have a Warren pear tree only, but most members don't like it,because they take a long time to produce, grafted branches do not take that long.

I can mail you wood from my Comice that is doing well and has only been hit a couple of years in the last 10 or so with Fireblight in Maryland. I also have Starking Delicious pear which seems not at all susceptible to Fire Blight over the last 20 years. My Asian pears all died of Fire Blight. Neither of these two varieties are patented so it is OK to exchange wood. Both of these pears are high quality and I find they ripen up if I pick just as they start to show slight change from green to yellow and then refrigerate for two to three weeks.

Tuesday or Wednesday I will be sending you out a good bit of Seckle pear scion wood. The Red Bartlette and Adjou did not have very good scion wood on them. I will also send you some Bartlette when I get a chance to get to that tree.

If you send me a stamped envelope I can send you a couple of varieties that will actually do well in your climate. Pears aren't the easiest fruit to get up the sugar up north so you need to grow the right ones. Bartlett will be reliable where you are. You might as well grow Seckel instead of Warren because it's a better setter of fruit of similar flavor- fruit-set can also be a problem with pears. Aurora is good and Sheldon can be fantastic for a lover of Comice. Comice is a more southern variety and I don't like northeast Anjous either- they don't get enough sugar here. I highly recommend Harrow Sweet but I have no wood to offer this year. I do have Harrow Delight which is a very productive Bartlett type, but bears in early-mid Aug when I'm not much interested in pears.

I don't have time to run to the post office so tell me how much weight I can put into a stamped addressed envelope and I'll give you a sampler.

Thanks for your thoughts harvestman. I definitely have a lot to learn about pears. I'd read a lot about challenges with pears in warmer zones, but wasn't sure about where I live. My dad says his family had wonderful bartletts that did well in zone 5 (in Iowa though, not NY).

Anyway, I have an envelope ready to go out with return postage. Where should it go? I sent you an email, too, if you want to send the address that way.
