Is it possible to force strawberries to bear fruit earlier?

Hello,

I have both Earliglow and Sparkle Supreme strawberries established in my garden and the Earliglow start bearing a bit earlier than the Sparkle but not by much. It would be nice if I could spread their production periods apart so that I could have fresh berries earlier and longer. Would it work to put a cold frame or mini plastic hoop tunnel over the Earliglows to get them warmed up and producing a couple weeks earlier? How early in the spring would I need to start doing this?

Or is their fruit production tied to day length? If it's tied to day length I guess the only way to hurry things up would be to give them artificial light, but then that would probably end up being too expensive... :(

Any insights?

Thanks,

Steve
