Update: Urine as Fertilizer?

Hi,

I've been reading the past threads on using human urine as fertilizer so we don't need to rehash any myths or horror stories about disease or the yuck factor. Let's just agree at the onset that fresh urine is sterile and that we are only using it on a garden that we ourselves will be consuming.

Can anyone tell us what they have found to be the optimum dilution range for urine & water is? Online, I've found everything from 2:1 to a 50:1 ratios suggested! If it is too dilute then is it a waste of time to use? And at the stronger ratio mixtures, how often should you apply it? What plants benefit the most from it?

This appears to be too valuable a resource to waste. Any experience-based practical advice on how to use urine directly in the garden will be appreciated.

Thank you.
