Mexican thornless lime, bloom initiation requirements?

I've had this lime for two years now, outdoors in summer and indoors in winter. Flowering when I purchased it, but nothing since. My Meyer lemon on the other hand in the exact conditions has fruited- not well I must add but definitely produces copious quantities of flowers.

Is there a specific season when it sets buds? Or flowering on new growth?
I keep watching for buds to appear but nothing. Thanks!

fireweed22, you're probably better off posting your question over on the Citrus forum. And, post photos as well, which are always helpful, along with your potting mix, what brand fertilizer you're using and how frequently you fertilize, whether the trees is on its own roots (seedling or rooted cutting), or grafted, how much sun it gets indoors, as well as where you live and your zone (your zone and location can be added to your "Zone" field, see mine). Sometimes it can take a year, two or even three for citrus trees to bloom and set fruit, a little longer for seedlings.

Thanks all. I am starting to readjust my expectation about hardy lime trees. I'll look for mexican lime varities this year, grafted. And just for fun started some from seeds, if I get a mexican lime in the grocery store. The satsuma isn't grafted I think. The thing is the main trunk dried back the first year and these shoots are from around the main trunk, so suckers. Initially I cut them off, but that was the only thing that kept growing. Laura, I have a key lime I started from seed 15 or 20 years ago. It is thorny, about 5 feet tall and produces 2 inch fruit and is not putting out much new growth probably because it needs to be potted up. Seeds from that tree were used to start a three year old tree that is now about 3 1/2 feet tall and a 1 or 2 year old tree that is 1 1/2 feet tall. Both trees have thorns and growing rapidly without fruit. All are upright trees, not bushy.

Denise, I have both. I think the muttty, thorny one is a bit more productive...mine certainly was initially. However, the thornless one has really kicked into high gear lately. I have not tried those limes yet to see if there’s any difference. They’re both nice trees. I’d say the thorny one is the stronger of the two, but I have very limited experience.

Thanks Hibiscus, the hose is a good idea will give that a try. Alanna, I will use the warm water soak as well and I definitely will not attempt until I can go from start to finish. Thanks. Oh and PacNorWreck, I did a quick google after posting and found some of the info you are speaking of especially as it relates to bees. I don't know if it was applied to the plant or if it is a systematic thing. I hope giving it an extended hose will maybe help if it was sprayed on. Thanks for the link. Thanks tropicofcancer for that hook idea. I do have and old paint roller handle so I will try to fashion one from it. With so much input and so many great ideas which I had no clue of, I can approach this with a lot more confidence. Thank everyone so much.
