I have two young grafted pear trees in my back yard. They are just going into their second winter. This past summer the yellow pear on the one side of my yard grew with nothing bothering the leaves but the other one (green pear) growing on the other side was having it's leaves chomped of a little at a time.

No matter what spray I used towards the end of summer only the older leaves at the bottom of the plant where left. I finally found out it was grasshoppers eating the leaves a little at a time. This year I want to be prepared.

Is there some sort of fine netting that I can use to build a structure over the entire plant which would still let light and air in and grasshoppers out to keep the tree healthy because the sprays did not work. I have no idea why the other tree about 80 feet away does not have this problem.

Need any ideas you have. I don't want to loose that young grafted tree.

Thanks

Lou
