Wind, rain... and more rain and wind

I've been all day just looking through the window, how the wind is destroying the few things we planted. We are having wind gusts of 53mph, and according to the forecasts itÂs staying like this until tomorrow noon.

The cover of the tomatoes that I was keeping tucked with stones around, flew up from the sides and is hanging there, all wet, hitting the tomato and pepper plants as the wind gusts blow just stronger. The sunflower plants are bent on the ground... some lettuces have literally disappeared. The net of the bed of strawberries and seeds came completely off and is hanging on a barbwire fence... after three weeks of almost daily rain... and forecasts say the rain will continue.

IÂm just glad I wanted to start small, in cases like this the loss isnÂt so big.

How sad.....big or small it is still disappointing.....I know that every one here can sympathize with you because we all have had disasters happen.....I hope you manage to save some of your garden..plants often are pretty hardy in surviving...I have had to go out and straighten up my corn about 4 times and it seems to be doing well...I am sorry about your garden and good luck with salvaging as muxh as possible...It is so disheartening having a beautiful garden one day and a mess the next...The deer ate all my leaves from my pole beans and I was so disappointed but they have once again leafed out and I picked my first bunch of beans from them this morning...good luck...

How are things this morning Mora? Hope there wasn't too much damage. Looking at thing from the house, my Lupines made it but they look like they need a crutch. I won't be checking things out 'til late today as I have to go into the city for errands and a job interview. Lots of leaves off the birches though. That wind ripped them right off and they are everywhere!!! The south side of the property is no longer a lawn but a lake and we had water seeping through the basement floor around suppertime last night. But all is well now. We have SUN!!!! Did you see it??? Did you??? LOL!!

My entire first crop of blue celeste came right as we had our first rains in a month. But even swollen and oozing sap, swarming with ants, they were amazingly delicious. If a watered down version is that good I can't wait to try some more normally. Luckily I have another wave coming in right now.... oh what's this? More rain? Looks like I'll just have to settle for watered down awesome.

Welcome Julie! I am new to this forum myself, and this is my first year with feeders, so I can't answer you question. I do know that last summer was our first year in this house and I saw a few hummers now and then , but this year I saw more hanging around so I went and got feeders, now I have a bunch! Keep hoping Carol. I just had that happen to me a couple weeks ago, heavy rain and winds that tore up my beans and pulled my tomato stakes right out of the ground. My pepper plants were lying down on their sides, branches were broken right off the tomato plants and were lying in the strawbery bed.

I thought most of the garden was damaged beyond repair but within a couple of days everything had pretty much recovered. Now you can't even tell that anything had ever happened to them.
