Planting Community Garden; Trade Birdhouse Gourd for Veggies

I will be retired from the military this Spring and will be planting a community garden for friends and neighbors that can not physically garden.

Last year, I helped an elderly man from church plant his garden and it really enhanced his spirits. Many others expressed a desire to have fresh veggies, so we are going to embark on the community garden concept to help others.

I have Birdhouse Gourd seed that I will trade for veggie seed of most any type, preferably heirloom but any veggie seed is appreciated.

I am also willing to send you TWO STAMPED BUBBLE ENVELOPES, one self addressed to send any spare veggie seed you may be willing to trade for an already stamped NEW bubble envelope that you can use in your next trade.

Thank you for responding.

In trade, I can offer very large packets (75-100 seed) of Birdhouse Gourds seed or I can send a SASBE plus another stamped bubble envelope for you to use in another trade.

In the community garden I can plant as much as an acre. The location is near our church (owned by the gentleman I help last year) and assessable to the elderly. I intend to buy some snap bean, corn, pea, & Crowder seed from the
local Coop and plant allot of these veggies. I would like to make smaller sections of various greens, tomatoes, squash, peppers etc. I may even consider planting (ensuring I name them) a section of herbs.

Any veggie seed is appreciated. I would like to post a small sign / placard next to the seeds that are donated with the name of the individual that donated the seed and where they came from. At the height of the growing
season I want to take pictures (and when harvesting) and post them on a website, maybe even Gardenweb, if that is OK with those donating?

We STILL have some trades available and STILL need more help. It takes a lot to plant 1Ã¯Â¿Â½ acres and a good variety of veggies. I would like to make 2 trades 10 of my packets for 5 or more of yours. Must be sent in a bubble envelope with enough postage! Recycling is good! My seed packets are recycled from tea bags, sweetener packets, and candy packages. If this is not ok with you please don't respond. I would be interested in a root cutting of "Granny's Rose." My husband loves and collects roses and it is his birthday soon so I'd love to surprise him with it. I would be willing to trade several kinds of seeds for it. Or I also have a few plants that I could dig and trade, if we did it quickly so you could get them in the ground soon. Hi arkseven,

First off, I wanted to sincerely thank you for your service to our country. I feel it is not expressed nearly enough.

Secondly, Congratulations on your upcoming and well deserved, I'm sure, retirement. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

Thirdly, I can send small amounts of different tomatoes. Some are saved from 2008 and 2009. Some I got in a 2009 swap (and are more than I will use). Some are older commercial seeds but Hopefully you would get 'some' germination out of them and end up with a 'variety' of tomatoes to grow.

I also received in more dill seeds than I can use, so can share some of those too.

Please have Mrs. Arkseven look over my seed list and see if there might be any flowers or shrubs she might be interested in.

Lastly, I think it is wonderful that you will be doing a Community Garden for others and wish you well. It is very thoughtful of you to include the Placard signs showing the seed contributors, and thanks for the link. What a great use for old gift cards.
