I got the plants from the nursery in bloom at xmas time..The seeds are being harvested now so they are fresh.

These are green flowers, very unusual...make me an offer.

ooooo how tempting. i have nothing from your list that i haven't already sent you, i don't think lol. i have dianthus king of the blacks but i don't think that's on your list. if you are still looking for the johnson's blue geranium in the spring, let me know-- maybe we could work out a plant trade :)

You don't say which gentian, not all are warm/cold/warm germinators. If you've sown any of the jacobs ladder other than Polemonium carneum, I think you could just leave the containers outside without the warm period - those should germinate when the cold temps begin to warm up. It probably would not hurt to bring the monkshood in for a couple of weeks then put it back out. You don't need to provide additional heat other than room temperature or light for the seeds. Truthfully though, I don't always have good luck with aconitum/monkshood unless sowing very fresh in early Fall, but that could be me :) "Is moist vermiculite in a baggie a satisfactory method for warm stratifying?" Yes, I use just a teaspoon or two of either moist sterile sand or moist vermiculite, then sow the entire contents of the bag when I'm ready to winter sow and place outdoors. (this is not the same as the baggie method for germinating seeds, it just meets the requirements for those seeds that need warmth and moisture before the moist chill). Alternatively you can sow them, leave the pots indoors for the required warm period but that takes up more space. You can also sow, place outdoors in late summer/early Fall for Spring germination. Some extra vermiculite, grit, or potting mix may be necessary to further cover the seeds once you've tipped them out of the ziplocks and sown them -

Now, I've finished potting up all the seedlings, hundreds of them from WS, here is the list. rose campion lychnis angel's blush assorted dward snapdragons assorted cosmos california poppy purple gleam and white annual poppies perennial poppies morning glory 4 0'clocks assorted bachelor buttons mixed toadflax lobelia crystal palace lobelia trailing saphire lupins, blue and cherry red gazania mixed colors baslam impatiens nasturtium jewel mix sweet alyssum tall alyssum nicotiana alata probably some I missed righting down Also have 2 large sedum, unknown variety that look really beautiful to start then they flop over and the center is bare. will dig out if anyone wants them. a very small hosta I have to dig out. plenty of lily of the valley I can dig out. spreading into my flower bed I believe they are bright purple siberian iris, again spreading into my flower bed. Not sure it's the right time to dig them out, but they have been here for 26 years, planted by the prior owners. Can dig them out if anyone wants some. especially the ones in the flower bed. forsythia branches, all you want that I can cut fresh. 3 potted up pussywillow bushes that may or may not root. A friend just left with me the following and she will be here at the swap. fresh dug up chives, oregano black eyed susan bleeding heart vinca minor And a neighbor will be coming with vegetable seedlings. hey all - apologies for not updating or tending to this thread. my life has changed drastically since i started doing this several years ago. i got hectic and moved, and probably about to move again. i dont have internet access always like i used to. also - this thread sort of expired, in that its been a while since it was up and active....so i just let it sink to the bottom of the pile... i could repost the OP and open up a fresh thread - #8 of this long running project, but ideally would love a new host to step forward to carry on the adopt a newbie threads in the future. i did ask a couple of people, but so far no takers to take over as host. if i do post a fresh thread - i think we should scrap the current list as most of the people are not even around anymore, this thread is quite old. also i would like to ask for a volunteer to update the list as needed, keep track of when people get adopted or add new names...ideally perhaps a new host will volunteer to just take over the adopt a newbie thread entirely... if anyone is game, just copy and paste the first two posts of this thread onto a new thread, and then maybe as a third post place a beginning list of new adoptees...so that as people sign up you can add names... or really however the new host would wish to do so...but the easy way would just to be to continue with the current format, copy and paste the first 2 posts, and then periodically post an edited updated list of those seeking adoption. otherwise my life is way to chaotic and hectic right now to continue to post the updates right now...

I would love some of your Hellebore seed. I have to trade seed of heliotrope-marine (purchased 2010 seed but has been kept in the refrigerator to prolong its viability). I also have Penstemon seed from my 2010 plants. The plants look to be 'Husker Red' but they were unnamed when I received them.

I also have Helleborus 'Phaeder Strain' germinating in the refrigerator right now. I could try sending you some germinating seedlings. Phaeder Strain is described as "Creamy tan blooms with burgundy spots, on evergreen plants". These seeds are from open pollinated plants.

I hope you have seed left to trade and you find my offerings interesting. My fingers are crossed.
