Color scheme help, replace red roof with black roof? Paint red brick
Comments (2)The first thing I would do is lose the shutters on the windows to the far right and far left. They are much too small. Second thing would be to get rid of the orange/salmon color around the windows. You already stated that you don't like the roof and that color around the windows is just drawing the eye to it. Are you planning to replace the roof? If so, a weathered gray/tan color would look a lot better. Can't tell if the brick has been painted or not. I'm not a fan of painting brick so if it hasn't been painted I would look for a color to paint the siding that "tones down" the brick color. A medium taupe would look good. Comments (2)Color choice is very personal, so you might not like my choices. I prefer some contrast, so that trim and the door stand out from the siding, but I've kept to a conservative mix. The colors are primarily tones of yellow, green and red. Below are four exterior color combinations from Sherwin-Williams using their color visualizer. I placed the particular color names for each variation on the garage doors; from top to bottom they are for siding, trim, and accent. Personally, I would replace your shutters (too small for the windows) with trim. In that case the accent color would be only for your door. I would paint the brick the same color as the siding, because I think the focus should be on the columns and the front door....See MoreOld brick home color scheme help
Comments (9)Don't remove your shrubs. With proper pruning they could be the perfect size for your house. If you want low maintenance, just have them professionally pruned once, then keep up periodic pruning yourself (likely needed annually.) They are too tall, and shouldn't be pruned into ball shapes. If the shrubs are touching your house they should be pruned away. If you want to put more effort and ongoing maintenance into your landscaping, add some flowers in front of the shrubs. Window boxes are very high maintenance and are expensive to keep up, since the plants in them need to be replaced frequently. I'm an enthusiastic gardener and they're way too much work for me. Also, you will still need shrubs even with the window boxes, so they are "extras" that you don't need. What kind of shrub are they?...See MoreExterior Makeover Suggestions for brick/vinyl siding colonial home?
Comments (13)So the garage doors draw the eye because they are light and your front door is black. IMHO, trying to add brick veneer and get both sides matching will be difficult and expensive, and may not ultimately look good. If the bricks don’t match and you limewash, your contractor will really need to be an expert to get both sides identical. You will also have to paint or replace the garage doors because the light color makes the house look off balance. I would paint the brick the same color as the siding. Siding holds paint well, so you can actually paint your house a whole new color if you want. You can paint your shutters too, and your front door. If you could pick any color in the world for your house, what would it be?...See MoreEmbothrium
