Cost of concrete slab for patio?
Comments (2)Just priced this cheapest price was $8/sqft+ $250 for stamped and colored which is very cheap of up to 380sqft above 380sqft is 6/sqft. It is usually around 12/sqft stamped and colored here but I used to work for a major co and we used them before so I was aware of his price and quality. Near Charlotte NC. just plain old driveway concrete is $3/sq ft from the same co. Check psi and thickness when you get quotes so you know it's apples to apples....See Moreugly concrete patio
Comments (2)Thanks Dee. Forgot about the texture. I've swept a relative's driveway and it was hard to sweep. We've had a few too many smelly and/or dusty jobs done around here (repairs mostly) and dealt with a few too many shonky operators (including the award winning #!@*! who built the house in the first place) so I'm tending back towards tiling. We've been told it could be done, just more difficult than usual, and I'm worried that the necessary adjustment would spoil the appearance. I'm also worried about the number of experts out there who tell you something is possible (or impossible) and then go back to whatever alternate universe they live in and leave you to sort out the consequences. Don't want to find out it's not going to work when we're standing out there up to our elbows in grout! Never mind, got another job for the next few weekends and when we come back to this perhaps the way ahead will seem clearer. Thanks for the info, glad yours worked out well....See MoreWhat to do with concrete slab
Comments (17)Weedyacres post got me to thinking that I may have misunderstood the job site conditions regarding the height levels between the two rooms. My assumption was that there was a step down from the entryway into the kitchen. If all it is as Weedyacres says, just thinset and tile, then it is as simple as removing the tile and thinset and going from there. I did a job once where I had to install 1/2" engineered flooring on a slab that was adjacent to an existing 3/4" solid wood floor over suspended wood construction and make it all look like an original install. The 1/2" engineered was installed over cork underlayment and weaved into the existing solid. Perhaps that is similar to what you face there. Just more brainstorming for you....See MoreWhat is best way to make stone patio even with concrete slab
Comments (2)We did something similar. We didn't lay tile, and although the patio was your typical small one that comes with most houses, we wanted a much larger area attached to it. There was also a sidewalk we had to incorporate into the design. No concrete matched any concrete due to stains and age differences. We hired someone to pour a new concrete patio next to the existing sidewalk and old patio. Then someone else came and painted all the concrete light gray, laid strips of tape to form stones, used 3 colors of stain, lifted the tape, sealed it all, and it is gorgeous! One big flat patio! Our job totaled $10,000 here in Southern California. Here is the ugly stained patio and the sidewalkHere it is after the work And here is the long view of the entire thing:...See Moretibs
