A thought on flowers that come in many colors like Zinnias

I am going to try something new with my Zinnia seeds this year. I am going to save and trade the seed with a little piece of paper that has the following words which will then be circled as I harvest.

Zinnia Seed 2007 Harvest

Pod Parent was:

Short Med Tall

Dk Pink Mauve Yellow Pale Pink

White Red Orange Coral Other

Small Med Large

Single Semi Double Beehive

____________________________ (the name of the variety if I know it would go on the line)

I would pick the flower with some stem and put this paper around the stem. Then I can dry them by poking the stem in an upside down box lid with holes punched out for the stem. The paper, if it doesn't want to stay with the stem, could be secured a different way, maybe a straight pin through the fat part of the flower where it meets the stem.

Even if every pale pink Zinni doesn't yield all pale pink seedlings, it would be educational for the person receiving the seeds. It would also be helpful in somehting like a trade or swap to more closely describe the plant fro which the seed came rather than "ZINNIA".

Comments? Are there other flowers for which this information would be helpful?

Lime
