Chea...my 3 Cherry Tomato plants are a foot and a half tall and taking up wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much space indoors on my sunny windowsill, so I plan on starting to harden them off, along with a few other plants this weekend.

I've got my garden planted, calling for some rain tomorrow. That would be nice. Still have to finish mulching and clean up a little. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

It's supposed to rain all weekend, so I probably won't be doing anything except waiting and planning. It's been slow to warm up this spring so I'm still planting peas and lettuce and potatoes inbetween the rain showers.

I cut down the clover cover crop in my tomato and bean areas earlier this week. I will be planting my tomatoes out Saturday and setting up my bean tepee and cucumber trellis.

If I still have energy, I will plant some bean seeds and some cuc. seeds. If not, that will wait for Sunday.

It's also going to be hot, so I should water some of the other seedlings that have been in for a few weeks.

Bunch of things to start doing!

Yesterday 50 strawberry plants, 3 fruit trees (two apple and a peach) and 10 asparagus plants arrived - Need to get them in the ground ASAP.

I need to spray my 1 mature apple tree before the buds open.

Thin the carrots, lettuce, spinach and peas that have sprouted.

Finish building my trellises for the cucumbers, melons, peas, and beans.

Head down to my fathers place, dig up one of his 100 year old rhubarb plants and divide it to move two up to my place :)

Harden off the 60+ tomato, pepper, and eggplant seedlings that I have. (Of course I only have room to plant about 1/2 of them! Not sure what I will do with the rest :))

I'm sure I'll think of more as I'm outside "playing" in the garden as the DW calls it.

It's going to be sunny and in the 70's in Maine this weekend. It's usually 20 degrees cooler than that this time of year! I'm going to put onion seedlings in the garden this weekend and plant carrots beets, and parsnips.

I'm having 6 yds of compost delivered...and dumped..........75 feet from the garden.....'nuff said.

1) Grid off and roundup 15K square feet of grass/weeds - 10K for sunflowers, 5K for corn. Being sure not to kill my vegetable garden while I do it. Wind permitting.

2) Newspaper and mulch plantings in vegetable garden. Maybe plastic between rows.

3) Make 40 tomato cages from fencing, buy wood and cut for stakes or find cheap stakes to stake em down. Install.

4) Spray garden with dilute soap against bugs.

5) Till along fence for decorative sunflowers, and inside fence for gords.

Thats it. Thats probably too much, because I also have to water treat some stuff. I'll be happy if I roundup and paint.

This weekend is main planting weekend for me.

1. I put in my tomato and pepper plants today
2. Tomorrow bush beans, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, and some herbs go in

I've done most of the planting for now although I have some more watermelon and cantaloupe seeds to plant indoors tomorrow.
First sweet corn is in along with potatoes, carrots, beets, cabbage, broccoli,onions, sugar snap peas, lettuce, spinach, and 2 plantings of glads.

Sunday I'm going to church.

ok...bout 75% of them are outside...time for a beer. =)

I'll be putting in my broccoli, cauliflower, onions and cabbage seedlings. Then I'll be planting beets and peas to go along with them. Maybe some carrots and radishes too.

Fortunately it is 2 of us gardening....

on thursday we planted the seedlings (tomatos, pepper, melon, zukes) and some seeds...

i think this weekend we are going to finish the drip system and maybe plant some more seeds...and if we have time work on the bamboo trellis for the green beans.

Put some more greens seeds in. Mesclun, oakleaf, simpson, arugula. The same as I put it last weekend which due to deluge-like rains on Monday and Tuesday, probably got washed away.

Plans for the weekend, PLANT.

I have been way behind due to weather and life, I expect to try to catch up all in one weekend. Oh, year through in a 3rd b-day party and 1st communion at church, I won't sit down the whole weekend.

So far I planted 4 types of beets, 3 types of carrots, 6 types of radishes, 4 kinds of greens, 600 feet of potatoes 3 different varieties, dill, put up second string on the Florida Weave on tomatoes in hoop buildings, started to weed the bindweed problem in one hoop building, water seedlings, spread compost, and finish mowing the yard.

What still needs to be done, plant 60 peppers in hoop building, build trellis and plant 30 cucumbers in hoop building Need to be done ASAP, I have some cucs dampening off DARN!, finish weeding, fix a small hoop building so I can pull the plastic over it ASAP and if any time is left, put out soaker hoses.

Wow, work on monday will be a time of rest! Oh, wait lessons for class aren't finished either..........

Well, we accomplished what we planned! Twelve tomato plants out, this year with significantly more spacing than last year, got seven melon transplants in the ground that I'm planning to let sprawl in their 5'-wide cinderblock raised bed. Sprinkled a few red clover seeds around the edges of the melon plot to let the melons spread into and then turn under in the fall or next spring.

This week, I'll plant Fortex green pole beans and Kentucky Wonder pole wax beans in their raised beds. Still have to smooth out the (unraised) bed for the limas, okra, corn, and Southern peans to plant in a week or two. I still need to plant cukes, zucchini, basil and chives in containers on the deck this week. I'll probably sow the chives after dinner. It was downright HOT out in the sun today and has now cooled down to 81 degrees.

You guys have been busy!

I never complete as much as I'd like, but the focus this weekend was getting the drip lines in on all of the beds. Since I've reconfigured things this year, and wanted to run drip to my containers as well, I think I spent more time at the store trying to figure out what parts I needed, rather than actually working in the garden.

I planted cauliflower, potted up the peppers and tomatoes one last time, and set out the flower house to give the heat lovers a nice place to sit while the spring weather does its thing.

Next weekend we'll be out of town, so I'll probably get everything in the ground around May 10. Then it will be a mad dash to figure out new trellising and tomato support systems before the plants get too unwieldy.

Sigh. It rained, snowed, and froze this weekend. But I potted up some tomatoes and bought more blueberries I have no room for. Someday when this thing called "spring" comes... maybe then I can work outside.

All of my plants are outside & at least halfway through their hardening off. yay! Of course, I didn't plan to get sick this weekend, though it did happen. :-\
