Cool. It seemed rather straightforward, but I thought I'd ask to be sure. And thanks for the suggestion about the light color, but it is all for an indoor setup. I live in China and there isn't any outdoor space available since everyone lives in highrises for the most part, so I'm making do with some LED grow lights (you can get them for about a third of the price as they sell for in the U.S. because they are all made here and sold out the same factory with a different Chinese label) and a sunny southern facing floor to ceiling window in an unused bedroom.

Late 70's I think, long time ago. We advertised in the Violet Magazine if you have any old ones, also sold a 3 tier rack made or 100% western cedar with a shingle roof. It was called "Texas Growing Media". If you remember when the German Company came with that series of Violets, all looked the same with a different bloom color. They were bred to put up a bloom early for the big boxes. We came behind this with large, small, var leaf's and many, many colors and did really big business. When the German, help me with the name, first came to the US he bought a greenhouse in Nashville and wanted me to market his violets. His growing method was the table mat system. We preferred to market a varied plant, not that his were bad just sort of plain. Wicking was a big improvement but there was still the problem of to much water and our system took care of all of that. A lady just north of Knoxville grew a lot of interesting violets we used in our growing program. Really interesting story, she hired a young lady to work in her greenhouses that listened to hard, loud rock if you remember the time. So she decided that the violets didn't like the music? She had U. of TN Knoxville run some test with music. They found that the violets turned away from hard rock and turned toward soft rock. Also turned away from heavy classical and turned toward lighter classical.

Plumeria roots don't like to sit in water so I would really consider getting them out of that reservoir somehow. Also, if the roots are reaching that, is the plant possibly a little root bound? The best time to root prune is around spring time I believe, but someone with more root pruning experience can confirm or deny that, LOL! Determine if the container is the appropriate size and then either re-pot or move / cut the roots in the reservoir if there aren't too many. The issue I have with a self watering reservoir is that you never fully flush your soil, which is a big benefit to container plants to flush out salts in the soil. Ideally, you want to thoroughly water your plant and then let it dry out before watering again. However, if this is your only option then it is what it is. The spider isn't hurting anything, it will not eat your plant. He may even be beneficial, as in, eating other insects. Whatever IS eating your plants could be something like caterpillars and such. If you are having a lot of your plant destroyed from this I would look into some options, otherwise keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get bad. If you overkill it can kill ALL the bugs, good and bad. I hope this helps a little bit, let us know how it goes!
