Comments (2)You might try pre-sprouting some in a wet paper towel in a ziplock bag. I started some 18 year old neck pumpkin seeds this way earlier this year and had 100% germination. Once the roots appeared I planted the seeds individually in Jiffy-7 peat pellets with part of the seed sticking up out of the pellet. Once the seeds grew up out of the pellets I carefully used some tweezers to remove the seed cover from the first leaves. After about a week I moved them to the garden where I gave them some part-time shade for a week. Good luck. Good luck....See MoreGrowing Celery?
Comments (7)SunnyD, I've never tried growing celery-- it seemed such a lot of work, hilling, etc. and I don't think you can preserve it in any way. But I may be wrong. I guess you could can cream of celery soup and maybe freeze it chopped? A big bunch is $0.98 here and I keep it carefully for awhile, so I don't know if the labor would be worth it -- at least it wouldn't be for me. Send us photos if you do it and describe, okay? I never say never. Sunny...See MorePepper Seeds from Commercial Dried Peppers

The massive commercial drying ovens are run at much higher temps than home food dehydrators as they can better control the humidity. I would think irradiation would vary from producer to producer but am not sure. And you have no way of knowing how old the dried peppers are in many cases. Dave PS edited to add that I know some have had success with using those peppers bought fresh....See Moremilehighgirl
