More questions about gritty mix: durability and fertilizers

Al, I could probably get faster results with new plantings using Miracle Grow or any chemical fertilizer rather than the organic ones I use. But by year 3 there is no difference. I avoid using chemicals generally because of runoff and water contamination issues. I would try an organic soluble fertilizer on a plant grown in gritty mix if it would be more effective than granular ones.

You said: The gritty mix is durable enough that it almost never 'wears out'. Plants generally become severely rootbound and in dire need of a full repot long before the gritty mix has seen the end of a useful life."

Does that mean you can use the mix over again without replenishing it?
