'Sadly, dumbed down'

Not my charge, but found elsewhere, where perhaps, dumbing down any further isn't possible.

It is when those with real expertise, and the ability to articulate it, head for more intellectually satisfying pastures - leaving the earth colder at the passing of their shadows (huh) - that results in those of us with less vision and skill left behind to seep in to fill the void. The potential exists for boredom, to feel under appreciated, insulted or put upon, but also to extract or impart a few helpful nuggets.

Garden art, garden junk; it's all a matter of degrees. A Henry Moore is great art in a museum garden but a pretentious hunk of cast bronze or marble in mine. As for your phone booth, you have a beautiful landscape from what I've seen and even though this is the real McCoy and and not mere kitsch, I'd find a way to make this disappear. (And not simply into the shrubbery - as possibly becoming a pissoire would really be bad form.)
