HAVE: my common for your common

I did this once before and it turned out well, so thought I'd try it again. I'm listing things that I have plenty of in my gardens; nothing fancy, just things that do well here in zone 6. Maybe you have a similar list and would like to trade some of your "over load" for mine? I only ship plants in boxes and get delivery confirmation; please be willing to do the same before you respond to this post.

I'm not willing to send out boxes for postage; I set things aside for my garden club's fund raisers and there are two annual swaps in my area so I have plenty to do with my excess.

So, whacha got?

chocolate loosestrife (not scented, just brown with yellow flowers.)

tall phlox; mix of white, pink, lavender

ginger canadense

archangel

calendine poppies

geranium, hardy with large leaf and pink flowers

solomon seal and false solomon seal (when not flowering, I can't tell it apart)

monarda, bee balm, red and lavender

false sun flower, heliopsis

lunaria, honesty, money plant

may apple

tulip poplar seedlings

kwanso day lily

spearmint and "regular" mint

oregano

wine berry shoots

grape iris (lavender in color, smells like grape medicine)

violets, I think they are all purple but there may be soft yellow mixed in.

I would love to have some of the chocolate loosestrife and mixed phlox. Please see if anything on my list interests you! Thanks, Melinda May also want some celandine poppy!

I have ...
Lemon Balm, Siberian Iris (small and purple), Iris Psuedacorus (yellow ~ will grow in wet areas or dry), Chocolate mint, Spearmint, Creeping Sedum (light green w/ yellow blooms), Hosta Lancifolia, Hosta Francee and Kiss Me Over the Garden Gate seedlings (that I can think of off the top of my head).

Claysoil ... I'm interested in your Wine Berry shoots, although I positively have no clue what they are :), Oregano and Tulip Poplar seedlings.

I'm behind in my yardwork due to rain and spring fever has hit hard this year! Gottagarden, the exact same thing happened to me. I ended up with those orange daylilies too(Hemerocallis). That was my first introduction to "common" names from people who are not really into gardening. I try and use the latin if it's pronouncable (and that's a big IF on some of those honkers) or appropriate to the situation. For instance I certainly wouldn't ask the clerk at Walmart where the Hemerocallis are. Pointless. Funny about prejudice though. I once asked a friend of mine why she didn't use the latin to talk about some of her plants when she knew what it was. She replied that the rest of her friends would think she was trying to be uppity. So now I realize that there are people out there who garden who don't want to know more then they already know and consider it snobbish to use a name they are not familiar with. I like to learn the latin if possible and how to pronounce it. But I guess there are two different ways to see things even in gardening...One of the strangest common name mix ups was when I lived in Indiana. I was told that some people refer to Bell Green Peppers as Green Mangos. Now that would be confusing.

I would simply LOVE to try some of your calendine poppies. I have the perfect bed for these jewels and it sounds like they may be hardy in zone 5?

The only things I have excess though are:

Obedient Plant (pink)
Evening Primrose
Some SMALL Campanula Punctata "Elizabeth" (invasive)
A SMALL sprout of Rose Campion

Do either of those interest you at all?

Red and the purple bee balm would be great, if you have extra fellow PA'er. I think I have everything listed on my swap page but I also have extra hostas of dark green with yellow edge and blue with green edge, I have Cupid's dart started from Ws'd seed that is growing nicely also.

I've responded to everyone, but apparently the emails do not always make it through GW. If you have not heard from me....it got lost on the internet and I'm waiting to hear from you. If you post here, I'll get that and try again. Glad to see that others are using this as a starting post to trade with others for their excesses. Thanks to everyone for jumping in.

Thanks to everyone for the trades. I'm officialy signing off. What has not been traded is now being potted for my garden club's next plant sale in July.
