Common Materials Go Haute at High Point Market
Inventive furniture, lighting and artwork made from everyday items provided unexpected visual treats at the 2012 market
Rope. Chain. Rubber. Driftwood. Those are just a few of the materials seen in unique furnishings, lighting and accessories at spring 2012's High Point Market in North Carolina, which wrapped up April 26. Every vendor seemed to have a smattering of common goods reimagined. From a simple coil of rope in a bowl to an entire wall full of old love letters, these items showed that making something old new again makes for good design. Here are a few of our favorite examples.

'Cooking the Books' Artwork
What a wonderful way to turn old books into incredible art! We adored this statement piece, titled "Cooking the Books," made of tea-dipped and sun-baked novels.
Chain was a huge trend in High Point. Natural Curiosities used this beautiful chain table for business cards. We would use it as a coffee table.
Side Show Table/Stool
Who knew reclaimed tires could be so beautiful? The rubber top of this iron occasional table is an ideal spot for placing a drink — no coaster required.
BoBo Intriguing Objects Pharmacy Rack
A pharmacy rack got a second chance at being used for far more than prescriptions. We love the look for stylish office storage.
BoBo Intriguing Objects Wine Barrel Stick Sconce
The statement lighting trend continues with these fantastic sconces made of French oak barrels. We often think of sconces as a formal touch, but these could be incorporated into a more rustic mountain or lake house.
BoBo Intriguing Objects Pigeon Basket Coffee Table
A French pigeon basket becomes a unique rolling coffee table.
Amil Cocktail Table
This traditional Moorish cocktail table is made from recycled wood. Each piece is one of a kind.
BoBo Intriguing Objects Wine Barrel Mirror
Reclaimed driftwood was reimagined as a stunning mirror, perfect for a casual, inviting entryway.
