Asparagus very weak. Can it recover next year?

In February I planted my first asparagus bed, about 50 crowns of Jersey Giant asparagus. I followed the usual instructions to plant them in trenches, but the rains came on immediately afterward. The trenches were soon filled completely with water for several days. I rescued a majority of the crowns (which had not yet started growing) and replanted them in raised beds. Amazingly, about 80% of them seem to have survived this ordeal, but they are coming up very weak. They have the diameter of spaghetti, and some of them are starting to fern out even though they are only about 6 inches tall.

I didn't plan on harvesting any in the first year anyway, but I'm wondering if they are likely to recover next year, or if they will be permanently stunted. Is there anything I can do to help them recover? Should I start over and just plant new crowns next spring?

Thank you for your advice!
