Have: Tulip and Daffodil Bulbs

I have the following bulbs available - I purchased them in early winter, and many of tulips actually have a small start coming out of them. There are 32 Ollioules Tulips, and 5 Trumpet Narcissus bulbs. I also have 12 Scilla Campanulata 'Excelsior' bulbs purchased at the same time. Gently squeeze the bulbs. If they are soft or have a lot of give, they are too old. Throw 'em away. Having said that, even if firm and appearing healthy, bulbs that have sat out unplanted for a couple of seasons will produce very poor results, if any. The energy or growing ability stored in the bulb deteriorates with time. The tulips I'd go ahead & toss. They seldom perennialize well even when fresh and I doubt ones more than a year old will do anything. I'd find an out of the way corner of the garden and go ahead and plant the daffodils now - bulbs keep better in the ground than they do in a garage :-) Next spring you will hopefully see some signs of foliage. You can apply a little bulb fertilizer then and let them go. May (unlikely) or may not (very likely) bloom but if given proper conditions and little TLC they may come back into their own in a couple of seasons.

I did a similar thing this year. I picked up tulip, paperwhite, croqus, hycinth, and Dutch Iris and put them in the bottom of my fridge in my weight room and forgot about them. Until about 3 weeks ago. Then I pulled them out and did some clay pots and put them in my greenhouse. It looks like all of them are sprouting that I planted. I'm going to till an area at one of my trees and chunk them in the ground this week. If they just come up this year and come back next with blooms, I'll be happy!!

Just don't let them sit in the bags to long or they will start to get moldy. I do this every year. Them have to dunk them in a bleach and water solution (1/10) to kill the mold. I would worry about planting them to soon rather than to late. One year I did order from a catalogue which sent the bulbs to me way to early. I had to keep them in the vegetable crisper in the frig till it was time to plant. Von

I emailed you Glenda. I have all the narcissus, 4 of the scilla, and 24 of the tulips left.

I would be interested in trading for some tulip and daffodil/narcissus bulbs

Of your wanted list, I have golden delicious apple cuttings/scion wood, yukon gold potatoes.

Based on your list maybe you would be interested in the following:
cuttings of sterling rose
seeds of white, purple and pink rugosa roses
Jonagold apple cuttings
Gravenstein apple cuttings
Northern spy apple cuttings

I also have cuttings of peaches, nectarines, pie cherries, sweet cherries, pink evening primrose plants, blackberry and strawberry plants and a number of other things - check out my trade list.
