1000 Garden Ideas by Stafford Cliff sounds like a great book, certainly one with a unique twist. I have always enjoyed the blog"A Way To Garden" and think you might find it informative and interesting as well. "Garden Design On Line" is an interesting blog that is written by someone familiar with New England and often is the first to post LD news. I have to get back to working on my taxes but this thread will give me something fun to think about in the mean time. More later.

Davesgarden has half-accurate info blended in with contradictory user contributions. Read with great caution and realize that some people's experiences or negative comments on plants are based on their brown thumb or limited experience since they killed their plant the first time by bad care or site location, etc. Do google image searches for various key words, or just go to the bookstore and finger through tropical books for one rich in photos that catches your eye and meets your aesthetic.

First off jpeg is a lossy file format. What this means is every time you save the image you lose a few bytes. Over many saves and conversions you end up with an image that is not very good. Be sure to save original jpegs on a cd that can't be written onto and work on copies. If you are uploading originals that are clear on your computer but not the web site check to be sure the images are not being resized. When I put a picture on my website I can tell the browser to shrink or expand it to a different size. For example I might have a 640x480 jpeg and tell the webpage to show it as 320x240 or 1280x960 or anything else. That will make the picture not look as well. ( and most likely what your problem is ) shrink or expand the picture your self and upload an image that is the proper size rather than doing it in html.

Hi Lynn Looks like you've done a very good job so far, but I realize you were probably using templets provided by znet. I recommend you learn to do your own html and you will have more control over the way your pages look. Infact you can see what they look like now by simply going up to "view" in your browser and then to "source". Copy it and then paste it in Windows Note Pad. This will give you a visual look inside what your pages real look like. There are so many great tutorials on the internet to learn html and the need for confussing and restricting software is unnecessary. As far as finding a place to put your website, there are quite afew out there, but I would stay away from free ones. They are very resticting and usually your pages are filled with adds and popups. I recommend Boomspeed.com where you can get 100 mgs of storage for $6.00 per month and there are no adds, no popups, no bandwdth limits and you get a guess book and free email. Another plus is a terrific support forum where people will help you with the html too. Thats always a plus as far as I'm concerned.
