Tulips didn't get planted - what now?

I have about 20 Rembrant tulips that never made it into the ground this fall (2 jobs, 2 college classes, sick relatives, you know the story...).

What do I do now? There's no way I can get them planted before the holidays. I put them in a cool dark closet for the time being.

Should I try to put them in containers after Jan. 1? Or just give up? Can some one point me to directions for growing them in pots - indoors/outdoors, chilling time, etc?

I have plenty of big pots and potting mix around - I could pot them on Jan. 1 (when I should have time finally) and put them outside. Or stuff the bulbs in the fridge for a while (but not in pots - not that much space in the fridge). Or pot them up and put them in a cool basement/garage/spare room.

What's the best plan? Thanks so much. I'm an experienced indoor and outdoor gardener, but have always let Mother Nature deal with the bulbs before.
